its what he always does. would be much easier if he just admitted to being a Froome fan and hoping he was clean, but no.

His opinions though are one thing and he is entitled to them even if I perceive them to be inconsistent.

What makes this case special is it breaks the most basic rules of a discussion.

If it comes to the point where poster 1 says "A" poster 2 says "you said A, but I think B" and poster 1 then says "no I never said A you liar," then that destroys the framework of disourse. no conversation can be had if someone thinks they can deny responsibility for their own posts as soon as they receive reactions to them, and it's a total waste of time for the responding poster.

Aside from that, accusing someone of being a liar and of shoving words in their mouth when everyone can see they have done nothing of the sort, should at the very least classify as baiting.

Edit: also foxxys repeated insistence yesterday that it is the job of those who ask for proof of a statement and not the person who made it, to go find the evidence, was also out of line.

Warn him for being insulting (use of the word "liar"), and leave it at that. I suggest that content-moderation would be the death of this forum.

But, I must admit that it would be fun to watch you dialog with Dr. Maserati on a topic like you are dialoging with Hitch on this one. That would be one for the ages!

Yes, it is the use of the word "liar" when facts clearly show I was not lying, that is my biggest problem with foxxy here and to answer your question parullo on what I expect, well not necessarily expect, but hope anyway that at the very least foxxy get a friendly mod pm telling him not to accuse people of being liars when they clearly are not lying.

Accusing a poster of lying should be something that at the very least carries some sort of argument or back up.

i seldom read the clinic nowadays but decided to read a couple of threads regardless. to my disappointment, i quickly discovered that one of the threads got flooded (or call it 'vortex-ed') by the mutual less than respectful accusations. i do not pretend to be a judge on who was first, or right or wrong, i only saw that a personal exchange diverted the thread and i lost any interest to read further. you be the judge if being called a 'hater' is more insulting than being called a 'liar' and if it is more worthy of an infraction. to me it is less than obvious. both deal with a perception or, if you will, a personal, true, not very polite opinion of each other which is an insult ONLY if one lets it through his or her skin. either way, mods should not take sides in these personal spats unless a clear insult was leveled. i was disinterested to find out due to the vortex effect.

I cannot be quite sure and normally would ask you to clarify, but of course this upsets people and gets me accused of vortexing a thread. So, I will dispense with that and will make it clear that I do not have nor ever have had a sockpuppet or another account here. I post under one username, because i had an interest in the debate, not to troll.

But this is the current state of the forum in a nutshell, and why it is floundering.

You have been allowed to make a post about me, and it has not been noted by the mods, so now I am forced to correct the matter.
Also, yes - calling another poster a liar without backing it up is IMO the lowest form of trolling. It is only done to dismiss someone, not their argument.

You may believe that it is only an insult if you take it as such - that sounds wonderful, but is false. The very point is to impinge the character of the poster.
Trolling 101, if someone cannot respond to the merits of a post, they dismiss it by either introducing a falsehood or by making it personal, ie about the poster - what is a sad refection of the forum is that you and another poster I have a lot of respect for in the Hitch are doing the same. Because of ****e modding, you & Hitch are sinking to trolls level, which is just what the trolls want.

Now imagine I did not write any of the above - and I just went straight for your jugular, but did so subtly, something like - "hey python, your argument sounds very familiar, did you sign in under the wrong account?"
I would expect you to respond, probably with a denial which I would dismiss with, "Ya, keep lying, its pretty obvious who you are, fanboy".
Now I have called you a liar, after I made a false allegation - but the best bit is, if you complain, or make any other comment, I will now dismiss you as vortexing the thread and taking it off topic.

When this happens repeatedly, posters will respond and make it personal, but not as subtle as the trolls, which leads them (not the trolls) incurring bans or they abandon the forum altogether.

. no, i did not suspect nor ever accused you of having a sock puppet account here. you misreading me is understandable, even explainable, by your incomplete reading. i very clearly made a reference, as did many others, to the hitch being similar to you in repeatedly demanding proofs when clearly the course of thread was diverted. nor did i ever accuse you of trolling, this was another misreading. in fact, i repeatedly and still value your humour and wit. i only referenced what i personally experienced and dealt with both positive and negative... regarding the rest of your post, i frankly dont follow you. so if you chose to depart, it is your choice and your loss. moreover, the forums gets to lose a good contributor but you make your options and the life goes on.

I have tried to tell you through the report system several times without any actions.

Only several weeks after that, I posted in this thread.

Perhaps if three reports were enough, I wouldn't have posted here.

Edit: I see he is banned now.

Now what do you think is the lesson I'd learn from this? That I should be patient and report suspicious posters (like I usually do), or that something only will be done, if it's brought to everyone's attention.

I'd like to continue with the former, but experience tells me that the latter is more effective.
