Wow. The Froome thread getting purged as we speak.

Are you guys serious? No humor is allowed whatsoever, is that the plan?

This warning, just received, is bizarre.
Unless you positively identify this as 'satire', it's considered trolling. Please refrain from posting in this manner.

OK, OK, it was satire! Can you now undelete my post?

A pic of Lance pushing an unruly roadside troll, Contador punching and unruly roadside troll...and Froome pushing a cooperative Henderson, is considered trolling?

Who is being trolled, and how? The post was in response to the linked article referring to Froome's push as a "shove." Was I trolling the author of the original article? It was just a game of semantics meant to offer some humor.

Who on this forum was being trolled by that, and would "positively identifying" it as satire change anything?

And now I see that my clever (yes, I will stake that claim) rendition of Froome's assessment from his time at the UCI training center has also been deleted.

What is the goal of this place these days?

I can't see the reason to continue posting here, to be honest.

I think you will find this forum reflects what happens in the real world. A lot here have very thin skin, people's feelings get hurt, and not everyone has a sense of humor. Like the real world somethings will be over moderated/controlled. Oh, and don't complain....you'll probably be banned.

The larger point, as it refers to "trolling," is that those who are opposed to seeing the image make themselves easy targets because they react and complain every single time. By doing so, they've essentially created a Franken-troll of their own making. There may be plenty of valid reasons for posting the Froome/Hendo pic, and just because doing so may simultaneously trigger the troll alert (to some others), doesn't mean the pic shouldn't be posted.

Eye of the beholder, and all that...

Yeah that was my take on it as well.

In no way am I posting that pic to troll. Oh look I am not posting that pic.

It takes two to troll and the constant crying about it is what sets up the (trolling) device, not the act of posting the pic in isolation.

I think that's part of the problem. There are a few just looking for posts which they can claim "trolling" and report it to the mods, jump up and down ask why no action was taken. It appears a lot on the Froome/Sky threads. I don't have a specific problem with it, only when those posters don't actually post a lot in the threads themselves, they only look for posts to report, then its a problem.

I have been giving board warnings about trolling, which we aren't required to do. If you're trolling, you can be warned, or banned.

Obviously my approach to warn members for trolling rather than breaking out the banhammer is not working.

Ok.

Deletion/warning may be standard for an offence of trolling/baiting. I've quite reasonably asked why my post was deemed trolling/baiting?

Secondly what you're now deeming to be excessive complaining consists of one unanswered PM and the highlighting of the issue here (a thread to discuss moderation) which quite ironically has led to typical trolling and baiting from the Hog.

I'm still not clear why my clearly lighthearted post was deleted. It seems to be that lighthearted posts made by those who have condemned Sky/Froome as dopers are OK but lighthearted posts by those who don't take that view aren't acceptable.

It is however clear that I'm not going to get a reasonable answer and must reluctantly heed your instruction to move on.

Right, because no one who thinks Sky/Froome are dopers has ever been banned. Right?

For crying out loud. Some perspective (and a dropping of the persecution complex) might be in order.

Agreed.

We ask for a second Froome thread on data/tests only which there will be no Froome/Henderson pictures. Spud complains for the 2nd thread, Tailwindhome complains for the picture in the regular thread. The Mods can't win here.

I got banned recently for a week and I think Sky dope. Irondan gave me fair warning on my posts. I took one more bite of the apple and was banned for a week. That's on me. Not sure why the those who think Sky are clean believe there is some MO to persecute them.

Excuse me Hog but where did I complain about there being another thread? You're at it again putting words / posts in peoples mouths - CUT IT OUT. I said it would be ok but needed to be managed to ensure no crossover and that I thought it could make the mods job harder. Thats all - nothing else, now desist with the making up / misrepresentation of peoples views.

I am no little kid, nor am I an unsportsmanlike person regarding going too far and accepting concequences, but this is just over the top:

warning.jpg

I left out the moderator in question because it doesnt matter who send it, but, is this the new Cycling News Forum Rule?

Get real please.

Post, not poster is in fact a rule and always has been.

I sent it, and will enforce this rule every time I see impersonal comments posted on the forum.
There was nothing personal in that post Irondan, why would? I only called Accogan by his first name: Andy.

Nothing more.

I get it you have a busy job but dont overdo it, please, for your own good.

I disagree, and have no intention of debating this issue any more.

It was a warning, you don't have to like it but you have to adhere to to it.

It's time to move on.

Then you are not qualified for this job and I will report your report on me, simple as that Irondan. Subsequently you can have me banned but you could also reconsider your previous misjudgement of my posting. I didnt intent any harm to the referred poster so you are totally out of line.

So I will be awaiting:

A: a ban
B: you admitting you saw that wrong
C: me saying it doesnt matter you overjudged that posting because you moderators have a difficult job

Your call.

If you can consistently moderate post like you moderated FGL's post, then I am totally supportive. Consistency will be the problem.

You are "free to pretend otherwise," but you would be "clogging the toilet." :))

Excessive complaining is a 3 day ban.

Best move on.

This very careful 'post not poster' moderation marks a change. I think it is a change for the better, but it merits discussion.

I couldn't report this post since it was already reported (no surprise) but just wanted to make a comment for the mods.

So faked fax is the spin?

TWH is making no attempt to engage in any discussion. Not just in this post but in general, in the thread. All he does is appear occasionally to post little baits like this.

The mods have already posted in the thread that it should be for discussion about the data. Troll attempts like this which engage nothing and exist purely to try to annoy people, are imo ruining the thread.

Just my 2 cents.

Tailwindhome has always worked on this premise - oversimplify the opposition's argument, make a broad swipe and ride that tailwind home when called out
