Dumb thread. What parents would want their child to dope when it is so dangerous to their health? I think we have some jealous parents here whose kids are nil at sport.

What parents? Ask Ochowicz

and he´s Raymond Poulidor´s nephew too
He was the one who served the pie.

Adrie also got caught for ephidrine during his career. You hear less about the fact that he was also one of the PDM riders on the full program during the 88 tour.

Indeed you hear little about it.

National sports heroes sell newspapers and give us a reason to watch Studio Sport on Sunday.
Doping pays.

He may have inherited physical attributes from Gary, although the scientists claim these come from your mother,
You gain physical attributes from both genetic parents. However your mitochondrial DNA only comes from your mother and that has implications for abilities established by expression of mitochondrial DNA. They just happen to be pretty important as they are directly related to the body's energy systems, in particular the handful or two of genes that carry instructions to create the enzymes that convert sugars and oxygen into ATP (the body's energy currency).

The pithy power proverb "choose your parents wisely" could perhaps be extended slightly to "choose your parents wisely, especially your mother".

Unfortunately there are too many.
Geneviève Jeanson got her first shot of epo at the age of sixtien with her parents present.

Yeah true. 2 parents is too many. Although you make it appear there are MANY with your example of just 2.

Re: Re:

don't take it as discouragement though. the forum needs dumb posts.
there can be no brilliant posts in the absence of dumb ones.

How is it dumb to say parents don't want their children harmed? It's natural. Yeah there are exceptions but you think all top athletes have nasty parents behind them. I say poor children whose parents (clearly a few in this thread) didn't have any abilities to pass on to them. Poor buggers.

Re:

Trust me, in the sporting world I inhabit (grassroots through to international middle/long distance running) there's some absolutely wacko parents. There's also some absolutely wacko coaches too, possibly more so.

And also some very very normal, well-adjusted ones.

I've not noticed any correlation between success and how mad your parents or coaches are.

He was the one who served the pie.

Leaving jokes aside, Poulidor was one conniving fellow.

He speaks slowly. This made the 1960s French audience think he was also mentally slow. So he and his manager Antonin Magne mapped out a marketing plan. Poulidor spent most of his career pretending to be simple - despite being of above average intelligence - to endear himself to the crowds as the polar opposite of the smart but unlikeable Anquetil.

It worked, too. They played the fans like a fiddle and he became wildly adored.

The son initially told the press he got suspended for missing a test. He received a four year ban.

He lied as he actually tested possitive for nandrolone and amfetamines. His sentence is now reduced to two year because its not sure he knew his father was doping him.
