jrod's season is overrated. His season was bad before a couple weeks ago, he said so himself.

And his 2 2nd place results were nothing in comparison to the way canc. took his podiums.

anyway the stand outs;

Gilbert- for obvious reasons
Sparatacus- excellent form and showing in the spring. deserved more.
Alberto Contador - Looked liked his old self.
Scarponi- been excellent in most races he has participated in.
Goss- Great early season.
Voeckler- best start to the season he has ever had, mighty impressive.
Kloden- brilliant spring.

Some honorable mentions;
tondo, kririyenka, jrod, gesink (for his results more then his performance) and some of the youngsters... degenkolb, matthews, guardini etc.

His second and third placings are probably 10 times less exciting than how Jrod took them. The only thing Gesink has been "impressive" at is his tting. Other then that I find him a huge disappointment. But hey, his dad died, so I'll cut him some slack.

I think Jrod had a great season so far. What he did before Pais Vasco doesn't really matter much. They're either small races or races he can never win anyway(like the course of this year's P-N). Remember, he was out of Catalunya because of an injury. Not really his fault.

Jrod is probably the opposite this season of Gesink. His climbing has been good so far, but his tting seems as worse or even worser than last year.

not that was his uncle who raised him and he also called his dad(I think heriberto uran right?). same happened with ardila's uncle who raised him and got shot to death during giro 2005 which made him tumble down the gc.

According to what I've heard/read before, it was his father, also called Rigoberto Uran, who was shot 3 months after Rigoberto jr won his first race. See this link for example: http://www.elpais.com/articulo/deportes/campeon/nacido/violencia/elpepidep/20080317elpepidep_27/Tes.

Apparently Matt Rendell did a kind of mini biographical film about Uran recently, interviewing him and people in his village, and has been trying to sell the footage, so far unsuccessfully. Hopefully it will see the light of day eventually.

Surely Ned Boulting will have a word with ITV and get it used as part of their Tour coverage, what with Uran likely to be a big player for Sky at the Tour.

learn to read, gesink is there just for his results.
jrod himself was dissapointed how bad he was ridding earlier, so it was obviously not from lack of trying. He certainly doesn't belong on the list of the best. And yeah he waited for the last 300m in fleche to go. I am speechless at how amazing it was
gesink climbing hasn't been great, but far from bad, considering he barely rode between ta and basque, and has had massive motivational issues. Anyway I can't be bothered arguing with you, nor turning this into another gesink thread, simply because of your anti-dutch antics.

Hermans has done a good job of being there or there abouts a lot, looks really promising.

Avermaet finally showing some real sign of become a true classics specialist, could have been interesting for BMC had Cadel ridden la Doyenne.

Goss has become a star in his own right and Guardini is looking the goods to be Italy's number one sprinter (and by default in the top five in the world).

And these guys...

Andy and Franky Schleck impressed me for hanging with Uber-Gilbert in LBL, good show.

the power of Fabian is so easily recognized even in a terrible quality streaming video, truly incredible to see someone so much stronger than everyone else.

Gilbert was good, almost too good

Chavanel was rad, he should have won Flanders...

Oh, I thought we were not supposed to include made-up riders. In that case:

Carl Pastryshop
Karl-Hanz Strunthauser
Jean-Babtiste Levieuxcanard
Kees Hondenrectum
Muhammed Bahdcyhclist

And many more.

then I think it's his godfather that raised him/put him on a bike, heriberto(?) who died a few weeks ago.

I have heard he was basically raised in a streetgang in colombia and couldn't read or write and that when he was send to unibet they actually had to learn him how to eat with knife and fork instead of with his hands. he had no manners or anything and hanegraaf really took care of him. also when he was just 19 during a training with unibet he started riding 60 km/h in front of the entire unibet group and they couldn't close the gap on him. then hanegraaf knew he had someone in his team that had one of the most incredible talent he ever saw. they showed this story on dutch tv during the tour 2 years ago

I know you jest, but nobody can match Sohrabi's win/loss record this season. Or even come close.

That's because they'd all get kidnapped and shot at the Kerman Tour. Not that you can see much difference between a white Iranian and an Italian.

hilarious btw when some years ago cia and fbi had no idea about iranian secret services infiltrating them as they were looking for dark guys with mustaches while they all used blond iranians to infiltrate lol
