i havent yet found anyone say a bad word about dan martin yet but happy to be proven wrong. i would say im a massive fan of any of those suggested with exception of gilbert, which will probably show how hard a poll like this will be. mouncoutie and voeckler could be decent shouts also

I would have thought Dan Martin is just a bit below the level needed for the poll, seeing as almost everyone there has won one of the real big races (Monument GT or Olympics/ Worlds)

Then i see Mollema there so im puzzled. Jens as well.

Cancellara. And Gilbert in Belgium for sure. If Boonen can win something big again next year it will be a draw between him and Gilbert(in Belgium).

I put jens voight because he is extremely popular and loved by the press and mollema for the dutch

Anyway, of these people my vote goes to Mollema, although frankly he isn't my most popular rider, but from those on the list he is the best choice

Gilbert for me. Consistent, classy and always a man to fear. I can hardly recall not seeing him near the front on a rolling parcours this year. Something about him recalls the style of the legends. Cancellara a not-too-distant second.

One thing I do know. It won't be Cavendish, will it folks?

Exactly i heard he is extremel popular in the peloton to. His explosive attacking style, panache and good looks plus his never say die attitude. I just savour the moments when he accelerates on a hill flying away from his competitors

My favourite moment from This year's Tour was when Jens pulled Andy up the mountain after having been in the breakaway. Only JENS could do something like that.

(Well, other riders probably could too, he just makes it look awesome)

Oh yeah and did I mention my second favourite moment (although I did not see it) was when Jens chased the gruppetto on a children's bike!

I was thinking the same, though not as eloquently phrased as this.

Freire is another rider I'd vote for as well. Maybe even Szmyd, though not in a popular sense, is loved for his ability to sacrifice himself for others.
