Most have been mentioned by other posters:
Paolini, Dani Navarro, Rowe, Roelandts, De Backer, Landa before last year, Navardauskas, Devenyns, Rui Costa no matter what he achieves, AG2R & Europcar domestiques, Bardiani tv exploit, Meersman, and Dani Moreno.

Navardauskas is a very good pick.

Paolini is, but the whole Cocaine issue sours it.

Didn't Navardauskas finish 3rd at the worlds?

IMO Rowe is so good, he is always by Froome's side. Like G was last year

Leopold König.
Edit: I mean - lot of people saying he's totally boring when he actually is not so boring. Except for probably Giro in other two GT's actually attacked and tries something (even won stage). Not every GC contenders do that, some just ride ninja style.

A guy like lulu is 10 times the rider Kittel ever will be but does the big public know him? Does he get paid even a fraction of what Kittle gets paid?

A way superior rider than Kittel but because he can't push those watts for 200m...

It's frustating that in cycling which is such a hard sport, such a quality as sprinting gets rewarded big time. I would have no problem with it if the rider showed other qualities and the organisers don't make it so easy for them but they do.

If Lulu had Kittel's talent, he'd be a much better cyclist.
I suggest that you go and have a look at Sanchez's palmares, it's not shabby at all.

I know who he is... I know he's got pretty good results...

But at no point has he been a dominant global superstar a la Kittel

though he is a four time grand tour winner, Nibali continues to be the most underestimated rider in the peloton. by riders, fans, and journalist. he is clearly better than contador right now, and steven Kruijswijk underestimated his ability during the giro, obviously buying into narrative that nibali was performing on a sub-par level. Journalists/commentators had written him off as having no chance to win, and of course fanboys of froome and contador constantly try to discredit him as one of the top riders, they only talk of big 3, froome, contador, quintana, of which I think he is better than all 3 right now. but I am sure most people will disagree - hence why I think he is the most underestimated rider

Better than all 3 right now how? Granted, he might not be rated as highly, but your post just oozes sheer ignorance.

CheckMyPecs user of this forum has to be one of the most underrated riders ever. With his upper body muscles giving him superior peak aerobic performance and bike handling skills, he would've wipped the floor with all of these skinny climbers if only any WT team picked him and sent to riding Grand Tours.

From the recent years it must be Wiggins, at least on this forum. Especially his tour win is underrated, he was by far the best time trialist and 2nd best climber - there is no way Froome would beat him that year.

Haha, the belief that you can only win a GT if you have a scrawny upper body is so deeply ingrained that, even if I did join a WT team and win the Tour de France, people would rush to start a Clinic thread about me rather than accept the evidence staring them right in the eyes. :)

If you somehow managed to join a WT team, and then go on to win the TdF, then people would probably rush to the Clinic because some random dude just appeared out of nowhere and won the TdF.
Same thing would probably happen if some 50 kg dude randomly appeared and won the TdF.

Jokes aside, I could never win a GT because my VO2 max and haematocrit are fairly average.

However, I've won my fair share of amateur races, and the vast majority of these victories have come at the end of long, hard races when I felt completely knackered —but the rest of the peloton was even more knackered.

To pretend my triceps, biceps and pecs didn't give me a distinct advantage in those key moments by keeping my blood lactate levels lower than my scrawny rivals is to defy established scientific knowledge.

Froome he only wins because his opponents weren't in top form, were in other races, mistimed they're peaks. They are really so much better than him. watch this year they're gonna crush him. that seems to be the current view of him. apparently a lot of posters think he sucks

That's pretty much the definition of underrated.
