I often cue up a playlist using YouTube and I come off looking well versed in multiple generations of music because people don't recognize that it's a Thin Lizzy song, they think that I know deep catalogue from the 40s, or 50s..I never correct anyone, not my place!!

I can still remember the shock, I'll call it white shock of Lenny Kravitz, Bad Brains or Living Color getting mainstream rock exposure.. Still is too rare in my opinion.. The sound doesn't fit stereotypes..

In Southern California there were 2 stations.. KROQ in Los Angeles and 91X in San Diego that started in 1983. Both were spinning what was new format for US which was alternative.. The Plimsouls got heavy, heavy rotation.
