I'm surprised at how many people like U2. I can't stand to listen to them live, once Bono starts singing its terrible. He doesn't have a very delightful voice live. Far to much work done by the sound engineers in the studio.

I saw them in Feb 22 1980, then again on 27th July, rubbish the first time, passable in July, the Police headlined and Squeeze stole the show, my friends dad promoted, even though she was only 13, she was in great demand from a singer with an awful voice, either that or she's lying. But yeah, rubbish band, although I heard Zooropa and thought this is really good, turns out they aint really on it. I did not know her until 99 or so.

I listen to some folk. The Incredible String Band, Phil Ochs, The Dubliners, The Pogues, several artists from the Riot Folk collective (especially Brenna Sahatjian), and tiny amounts of others. But most stuff I listen to is punk, with some pop and country thrown in for good measure.

Disney songs = genius,

funny, entertaining, nicely coriographed. Sometimes very emotional. Few songs can make you cry like Disney can. Did i mention genius?

Especially from the Disney Renaissance of 1988 - 1999. Every song in Little Mermaid Beuaty and the Beast and Alladin deserves a Oscar.

Not just those though. Classics like Dumbo, Jungle Book, Peter Pan have intelligent songs too.

A lil dif approaches to country, don't be so quick to judge musical genres

I find Country to have by far the best lyrics. More than any other genre Country songs tell short stories. Its not "i love you i love you la la la " or " _ this _ hos _ you, etc". They just tell short stories which i love.

For example "Coward of the county" - a very famous country song is a short story about a boy who promises his dying father not to fight, has to break this promise when his family is attacked.

"I hung my head" is a very interesting short story about a man who accidentally commits a murder.

"Hurricane" by Bob Dylan might be a country song. That tells the story of the Boxer who was jailed for a crime he didnt commit. Very well written.

Im not sure if "Me and Bobby Mcgee" is a story but i know other Kris Kristofferson songs are.

When a song tells a story, its all the more enjoyable to listen to.

These ones are the ones from the film which are upbeat and have comedy. You dont really get comedy in songs outside of Disney

The finale on the other hand is more the emotion part, which gives you teas in your eyes

Listen to a lot of things, but foremost Soul, RnB, Etc. from Chuck Berry and John Lee Hooker to Sam and Dave; Stevie Wonder to Prince*. Aretha franklin! Etc. Also 80s and 90s hiphop. Krs, Eric-B and Rakim, Wu-tang, that sort of thing.


*can't stand michael jackson, though.
