National Time Trial Champion (2007,2008,2009,2011) ;)

2008 3e Martin
2009 2e Martin
2011 2e Martin

I was mainly looking at the "merely" 2 minutes advance on Teutenberg over a distance of 40km.

Does anybody know if the Dutch U23 will be on TV today somewhere? or if there will be a stream?

Hofland survived that parcours? Damn. Would have prefered to see Olivier take it. But grats to the man.

Lol isn't Hofland a sprinter? How did he manage to beat a guy like Olivier with all these climbs in Kerkrade?!

Maybe Hofland is underrated on hills by you guys? After all in the final there were only 4 guys left. The sprint was uphill as well.

Hofland is a badass  He attacked all day, and still had the power to win on such a tough course. He's already proven in bigger races on several occasions(Pino Cerami, Poitou Charentes, GP Somme) that he can even be better at the pros than in the U23 races. I hope he can become pro next year, or even get a stagiaire contract this year.

Yeah, it's all good and well that Hofland might be more than just a sprinter and can last a hill and stuff. But it's really exceptional that this sprinter beat a proven climber like Daan Olivier in a lap with 20% gradients, 4 climbs, and an uphill finish. I mean, sure he's just proven that apparently he can do this stuff too, but I don't think Moreno ever showed this before.

Anyways, pretty epic!! When will the "Moreno Hofland is the new Peter Sagan" thread open? :D

Well, when he ends 6th in PR U23, 49th in LBL U23 and backs those results up with other simular races, it's not a matter of underrating, it's knowing what he was capable of. So I'd say he surprised me big time here! :)

That LBL U23 I actually expected him on front but I heard later that he was parilysed by the cold. And PR is the race that suits him the least so that isn't a great indicator of his potential as well. He's a guy who should do well in races like the Ronde and AGR in the future, if he keeps improving each year.

Edit: Just saw Taaramäe's comments, he actually did teamwork with Kangert and let him win eventually! The third guy, Jõeäär (who is going to get a pro contract in the end of the year) is alot faster than them and they tried to shake him off for the whole race but didn't manage it.

Pretty much confirms what I saw from that video earlier today. Taaramäe didn't react at all when Kangert attacked and started to look at Jõeäär. Also nice from Rein for acknowledgin Jõeäär for his good race and progress since 09.

I think Taaramäe is in good enough shape to fight for white jersey in le tour.

lol After reading the comments I was about to post wether we should open a thread about Hofland and hype the crap out of him. Please let's be quiet about him. Let him join the pros and we'll see what happens.

He's not a sprinter. More of a hills specialist with a sprint. Pretty much the perfect rider for a course like this, certainly when the finish is a short uphill.

I think all races he's won so far had a little bump at the end.
