Fields can run, but running QBs don't last long in this league. Only ones that develop as a passing-first QB, and even Lamar struggled when facing a top defense in KC. Despite the lure of a dual-threat QB, it's a passing league, with the ability to run effectively (the way Mahomes, Allen, Purdy do) as needed, only when that's the last option, is how QBs actually run successfully. But no one thinks of Mahomes as a running QB, let alone speaks of him as a "dual threat".
Mahomes was classified as a "dual-threat" coming out of HS - as was Fields & Allen. But at Texas Tech he primarily became a pure passer with the ability to effectively scramble & run when needed. Kingsbury ran an empty backfield air attack offense that just passed the ball like there was no tomorrow (remember Mahomes tied he NCAA single-game passing record with 734 but broke the single-game total offense record with 819!).

Allen was also a dual-threat out of HS but Bohl at Wyoming didn't run RPO but instead went pro-style offense. However, Allen ran a lot in college with featured designed run plays for him. Essentially the same thing at Buffalo - he runs a lot & there are designed run plays just for him. He's had over 3600 yds rushing (5.5 avg) & 55 TDs in 6 seasons - almost 3 times more than Mahomes. With Allen you essentially have a FB playing QB that can throw the snot out of the ball.

Fields was a dual-threat coming out of HS. In fact, he was the #1 dual-threat recruit & #2 QB OA recruit behind Lawrence. But at Ohio St, Ron Day was no longer running RPO & transitioned to the pro-style O. Fields threw the ball quite well there having an impressive 2019 season throwing for over 3200 yds, 41 TDs & a 181 Rtg. He really didn't run the ball there much unlike Lamar Jackson that was throwing up huge rushing numbers at Louisville. I don't know what's happened with Fields at Chicago. He's not throwing the ball like he did at OSU, and he's gone back to running a lot like he did in HS. Unfortunate, because the kid has got a cannon of an arm.

Is it even possible now to watch anything on ESPN that doesn't have a part of the show designated to betting ? Then the commercials start and every commercial break is flooded with commercials re different betting agencies. they even have arguments on ESPN about which team should be the favourite etc............Then you have the internet advertising on every commercial break. it became so crazy during Covid that with many of the major world sports in limbo and not active, people from all over the world were betting on state grade soccer and tennis matches in Australia and Eastern Europe and local horse races and snooker games ! There was some evidence later on of crime syndicate involvement..............who would have thought............
I'm a cheap ars with most things in life so gambling has never been my thing. I used to do a few low $ pools here and there, but it actually took away from the enjoyment of the game for me so I don't even do that anymore. I do have several ongoing push up bets with several friends though! :)

Niners not happy about the field condition of UNLV while Chiefs maintain their ownership of the Raiders by taking their practice facility and field.
And to add to it, Chiefs indoors and Niners outdoors with it raining pretty frequently the last couple days and sometimes all day. Then add in the NFL laying the sod last week instead of beginning of December like they were supposed to and we have a right mess :(

Haven't you been reading the news? America and the NFL want Swift to win the game. This is just another example showing the whole thing is rigged. Just like what Frank Zappa said about the Grammys...after he won one! ;)

Imagine Mumbles Belicheck and Riverboat Ron on the same show.

I heard that the actual field they will be playing on is currently outside the stadium under cover from the rain and gets rolled into the arena closer to game time. I remember the Cardinals field had a similar system in last year's SB but the Eagles had some issues with it. Seems the 49ers are not going to move practice fields. Whether the NFL would allow that anyway, who knows. probably too late now. Shanahan said something interesting, he said that last week was the main week for prep but this week with all of the distractions and whatever, practice was never as effective as the week before based on his previous two SB's with the Falcons and 49ers.

The possibilities are endless. Will a Chiefs victory be sealed with a kiss and a marriage proposal on the halfway line after the usual window pantomime ? Goodell must be dreaming about NFL TV ratings if that transpires.

Or does Mr Irrelevant aka the Game Manager, the fraud, the bit player blah blah get to play the Grinch and crush Swifty souls and hearts and become "the little steam engine that could ?"

Somebody get the cart for Cam and Nick Wright ......................looks like concussion protocol, they hit the ground hard............

I think what could happen is this. The 49ers win the game in the last second, then T. Swift comes down from the sky box, and...runs off with Brock Purdy! Leaving Kelce in the end zone lurch crying his eyes out.

Brock and Taylor are seen later that night getting married at the Church of Elvis on the strip.

:innocent:

Toyota just became the new official NFL sponsor. Their first player endorsement deal was signed with Purdy, imagine if he wins the SB and they manage to sign Taylor Swift to a deal as well : as an official NFL Ambassador or whatever ! Sorry Kelce we have to be open minded..................

I've actually read this from several players and coaches. Its good to walk through all of the new plays, but other than that it not really regular practice.

Connecticut is one of the most highly educated states in the country. Yale is there for example. But there are a lot of very nice other colleges (Quinnipiac, Wesleyan, Fairfield, etc.) plus a lot of high end prep schools. The entire state is now certain the fix is in (link here).

One of the other big searches there are gambling odds. So, if you're looking to bet your house, 401k, etc. pay close attention to what the educated Nutmegs in Connecticut do this coming week. :innocent:

I befriended a guy years ago while living in NYC, he invited me to a party, bring my bike and stay in Greenwich for a couple of days. I took the train, got a ride from the station.. Whatever bet(s) are being made in certain neighborhoods in Connecticut.. I am paying attention.. I have seen many things in my life but never seen the concentration of wealth like Connecticut.
If you bet your home in Connecticut it could be @$50 million!!! Some of the places w private beaches are $20-40,000,000 easy.. I am hesitant to buy 20-50 box on the pool at my local bar and VFW!!! I have zero confidence betting for or against either of these teams.
Anyone who has strong feelings about betting against Pacheco, Mahomes ,Kelce, Purdy, McCaffery, Kittle..that's a crazy bet either way..too many great possibilities..

Who are all these haters & detractors? Football Zombies? Lol. I don't why people would be hating on the guy? He's doing what he's paid to do - win games. He's an impressive 4-1 in the playoffs in just 2 seasons - that alone is remarkable!

He may not have the rocket arm or flashiness that the Gunslinger has, but he can make all the NFL throws including the deep ball (or he wouldn't be in the league). And this is a big guy - 6'1" 220 lbs (nothing to laugh at) with good agility & quickness.

I really didn't know much about Purdy until I did a little research on him. He threw for over 12,000 yds & holds 32 school records at Iowa St (against Big-12 competition). All four years he had at ISU were winning seasons with four bowl appearances - so the guy knows a thing or two about winning . A truly gifted athlete that can play the game at the elite level.

Just because he was drafted last doesn't mean he's really any less talented than the hotshots taken in the 1st rd. If anything this shows how f'd-up things are in drafting QBs these days when the last guy drafted is shining while very high-drafted guys like Wilson, Darnold, Trubisky, Wentz, etc, suck. Lol.
