Sounds like the Patriots are all in on Drake Maye & don't want the distraction of a hungry, up & coming young QB breathing down his neck. I think Milton will get a better chance to develop as a starter at Dallas as Prescott won't be around forever. Milton started the last game of the season last year. Though it was against most of the Bill's reserves, he played very good throwing for 241, 1 TD, no picks & a passer rating of 111.

Someone needs to develop Milton into a starter. He's identical to Allen in size & a little bit faster. Milton's arm strength & velocity are such they've been the subject of awe as some say he has the strongest arm in the league! He can throw farther than Allen & tied him with the all-time fastest velocity throw at the Combine (62 mph). However, accuracy & touch issues, and difficulty delivering the ball into tight windows have been his main weaknesses (hence his low draft ranking).

I hope someone at Dallas can develop him into a good passer. This is way too much raw arm talent to be sitting the bench in a potential career as a journeyman backup. The league is already littered enough with young QBs with elite arm strength that aren't starting with some even leaving the NFL.

There's concern he's Anthony Richardson 2.0. But I agree there is real potential there. There are videos of him throwing some absolute bombs in camp and made them look effortless! Scouting on him was he has the size and athleticism to be a dual-threat, but he's a reluctant runner. He also has a bit of a wind-up in his throwing motion they are going to have to work on. But he did look good in his lone start last season.

Patriots basically traded a 6th round pick (where Milton fell to them) for a 3rd round pick. This is a good trade for both teams.

Geno Smith extended by Raiders to the tune of $85m for 2 years if he hits all incentives, about what he was asking.

I hope Pete knows what he's doing. Aside from the dramatic gym hardware, that is.

Big $$$ for Smith - tied with Carr as now the 16th highest paid QB.

So, what are Carroll's expectations? SB contention? Winning season plus playoffs? Improvement of any kind over last year? Nonetheless the AFC West is going to be very tough. KC is not going to falter anytime soon (as long as Mahomes is healthy), LAC is much improved with Herbert playing better & the Broncos are now a dangerous team with the emergence of Nix & the upside he still has.

Smith is at the peak of his career & he's not getting any younger. A sub-par 40-43 in 83 starts with 3 different teams over 12 seasons. A career passer rating of 93. He has one playoff appearance to his name - a big loss to the 9ers in the 2022 WC round where he was outplayed by Purdy.

Smith is an athletic/mobile QB but has never really run that much over his career. And how much mobility is actually left in those 34 yr old legs?

One thing for certain is the Raiders need to improve their offense. Bottom 10 last season in total team O & only the Giants, Patriots & Browns scored less points. But Smith has Bowers & speedy Tre Tucker to throw to. And if the Raiders take Jeanty with the 6th -- as almost every mock has predicted -- they should significantly improve their offensive production.

Crosby sure is hyped:

Harbaugh gave up on both Stick and Duggan (and Perez). To me Lance is a minor gamble, they can dump him to the practice squad, hope beyond hope he improves.

For 2025? My guess is it's to look competitive, and maybe have a winning season with something to build upon for 2026. Let's be honest, the Raiders have many holes to fill, a roster of several average starters (or below average), and it's not going to happen with whose left in FA, or the draft. They need to improve: half the OL, plus a RB, plus a WR1. They need a LB who can cover the field (and cover), they have several average players in the secondary. Despite re-signing both Butler and Koonce on the DL, they lack depth and top players there aside from Crosby and Wilkins. Playing in a tough division doesn't help, at all.

The good thing (IMO) about Geno is despite his age, there's a lot of tread left on the tires. He didn't play much when the Jets gave up on him, he hasn't had long, grinding seasons, doesn't seem prone to injury, and has decent size.

If Raider fans are honest they'll admit the team could finish 7-10 this coming season, and be okay with the team looking competitive, like they are improving. Geno will certainly help. They made so many mistakes last year, often due to poor coaching, that alone should get a couple wins with Pete. But they need time. If things go well, they could be good, a playoff contender in 2026.

Jeanty won't solve the Raiders blocking problem. A below average OL isn't going to magically open holes for him to squeeze through. In fact, I'm not convinced the Raiders are taking him there. We'll see. Depends on who is available.

That is actually a gym I think in Florida, a private workout place, mostly attended by QBs. You can see Tommy DeVito in the background.

Here's Shedeur's pro day. Well, he made all the throws one expected, and dad was there to hype/sell him. The only thing left now is if the Browns take him at #2, someone trades with them to get him, or he falls to the Giants at #3. The buzz is too great for him to fall past that, IMO.

Hunter was there as well, catching passes.

They said he threw the ball well with his medium range & deep throws looking the best.

What a media circus there with all the cameras. Already a half-million views & 1.4k comments on that video.

Whatever team ends up drafting him should consider letting him operate out of his college offense -- or one very similar. Sanders at CU ran a shotgun centric spread-option offense taking exactly eight (8) snaps under center in 2 years at CU and 2 years at Jasckson St.

We saw the success with Kingsbury having Daniels operate out of the spread-option RPO scheme virtually identical to the offense he played in at LSU (a total of only 16 snaps taken under center last season). Even with Allen, only 15% of his snaps last season were under center & he was actually running some plays out the spread-option RPO attack (credit Joe Brady for dialing that up).

You're right -- all that's left is the Brownies taking him at #2 or the hapless Giants at #3, or some team pulls off a surprise trade (maybe the Raiders? Wouldn't that be a media circus. Lol).

Arm talent for both Stick & Perez is average at best for strength & accuracy. Interestingly, Stick was a dual-threat at North Dakota State where Lance played at. He's quite athletic running one of the fastest, if not the fastest, 20 yd shuttle for a QB. But it's arm talent where he's lacking. Unfortunately for Perez, he has a double-whammy; lack of arm talent & lack of mobility -- that will pretty much shut you out of any potential NFL career.

Duggan is the one that's confusing. Though undersized barely over 6 ft & 200 lbs, the scouting reports states he "has good (not elite) arm strength & can easily make all the NFL throws with effortless deep passes." Also noted: "Gets the ball out quickly making split-second decisions with good short to intermediate-level accuracy demonstrating good ball placement." Duggan is also very athletic/mobile with elite speed (4.5).

Here's where it gets interesting: Duggan was a passing monster in the spread option/Air Raid offense at TCU finishing 2nd in school history in career TD passes (73) & 3rd all-time with 9618 passing yards. He was 1st team All-Big 12 & he won both the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm award & Davey O'Brien award. He also finished 2nd in the Heisman voting behind winner Caleb Williams! All this & he's barely drafted in the 7th rd? All this & he lasted one year in the league & is now playing in the UFL? Go figure.

Zero chance the Raiders draft Shedeur. They just gave Geno Smith an extension! Unless you're saying now that they gave Geno the extension, they would trade Geno to someone like the Steelers, and draft Shedeur if he falls to them? That would be insane!

Wherever Shedeur goes, he's going to start week 1 in the NFL. Guarantee it.
Whatever team ends up drafting him should consider letting him operate out of his college offense -- or one very similar.
Agree completely. Doing so means they only need to work on him getting the ball out quicker when facing a pass rush, and not taking bad sacks. They can slowly work on whatever else is needed after that.

What's interesting about Luis Perez, is in the UFL he's been increasingly, surprisingly mobile. His issue is he has an average arm, and his delivery is fairly slow. He's sort of a poor man's Alex Smith. But he's very smart, has piled up huge yards, and been great in the red zone in the UFL, XFL before that, plus AAF, and won an XFL championship and MVP. But there's a reason he never gets past camp, preseason, or a practice squad in the NFL. His nickname "the King of Spring" fits.

Agree on Duggan. He showed a lot of grit and determination at TCU and with his skills I'm surprised he's not on an NFL team. He's now on St. Louis in the UFL. But he's not starting (yet?) because Manny Wilkins (another dual threat) was on the team last season and likely knows their system better. As I posted before this was the team AJ McCarron was on, and they were done with AJ, and no other team picked him up. Just like the NFL, every QB in the UFL is either a dual-threat, or mobile. The days of a drop back statue QB are rapidly fading into the distance, in every league.

Buzz is all good but teammates relate to production and a certain amount of verbal humility/support from the rookie staff. We've seen it many times. Shadeur came up weak on taking responsibility more than once.

Keep him in the spread option gun & not under center where he's going to feel uncomfortable never having been under center very much throughout HS & college ball.

Even Payton adjusted the offense to resemble more of the shotgun spread option that Nix played in at Oregon (only a total of 14 snaps under center in two seasons at Oregon). The total number under center snaps for Nix last season was only 63 - about 4 per game. Nix looked comfortable in the shotgun pro-spread where Payton even dialed up some designed runs for him (mainly sweeps with pulling guards).

I can't emphasize enough the benefits of having an athletic/mobile QB. Here's Nix turning what looks to be a sure 10 yd sack into a 21 yd scamper for a 1st dn:

To me that means they are passing on Shedeur.

Lost in all this is what are the Titans going to do with Will Levis?
I don't think they were that interested in Sanders in the first place?

Levis is done if the Titans select Ward #1 OA (wouldn't that be a vote of no confidence?). Levis must have disappointed so much last season that the organization feels they need to move on from him. In his 2nd season last year, he was named the starter but missed 5 games due to injury (he started 9 games his rookie season).

In his 12 starts, he was bad. The team went 2-10 & he threw almost as many picks as TDs (13/12), and finished with the lowest QBR of all starting QBs (at mid-season he was leading the league in turnovers!). See for yourself...it's not pretty:

And recall some of the bad decisions he made with stupid turnovers bringing the wrath of Callahan upon him:

Levis is another head scratcher: Elite size, elite arm strength, good athleticism/mobility. Comparisons made to Brett Favre. 2nd pick of the 2nd rd.

Another high-drafted QB struggling to make it as starter.

I've known who Levis was since high school when he was an elite prospect at Xavier in Middletown, CT where I once lived. The same school Tim Boyle attended, who he effectively replaced. A school that won numerous state championships, and pushed out a lot of college players. Several baseball players came from there too. Xavier was so good for so long they often added NY and Mass teams to their schedule for competition. Even in HS Will impressed people with his arm strength, and like other high school quarterbacks he could run like a half back. My guess is he relied too much on his arm and size, both then, and at Penn State then Kentucky. So when he got to the NFL the lack of accuracy and poor decision making has caught up to him. Now he's a project. A player who's going to need a lot of work to have any sort of future in the NFL. Maybe someone will take him to work on him, and maybe he'll end up as the next Tim Boyle. Ironically, both right now are signed to the Titans.

Interesting video -- he looks like a man among boys in HS. You're absolutely right, Levis is going to need a lot of work to have any future in the NFL. He's at the crossroads of his career path. Can some team develop him into a good starter such as Hurts & Dalton? (also both early 2nd round picks).

Or is he going to end up like Drew Lock -- a FA now who failed to make it with three different teams. Also a top prospect with elite size & arm strength drafted in the early 2nd round by Elway who said Lock's playing style reminded him of "himself."

I could see this happening. AR is set up to fail at Indy. With Steichen bringing in "Danny Dimes" to compete with AR for the starting job is simply a vote of no confidence. How else could it not be?

AR has only 15 starts in his two seasons & Steichen brings in a veteran 1st rounder with playoff experience to compete for the starting job. Even if AR wins the job, Jones will be breathing down his neck. And at the first sign of trouble, you know Steichen will make a QB change. In two seasons, Steichen is only 17-17 (9-8/8-9) with no playoffs, so I believe his job is on the line.
