With Stafford, Rams on paper got better, but I think they will suck next year all things considered (e.g. incl mass coaching turnover). While better on paper, they gave away a lot more just to get a little better at QB, making this an inequitable trade. Lions win this trade.

Rams traded up by giving away 6 picks to draft Goff, & now tade away 3 picks to get rid of Goff. 9 picks total. Plus $20M dead money with Goff. Can it get much worse without considering Ryan Leaf (the player - kudos for his turnaround in life)?
The Rams do what the Rams do..........but if they win a SB ...........many have their doubts and also with Stafford being the one to lead a team to a SB win. On one hand you have the people saying you can forgive his three playoff appearances for zero wins cause he never had the right team around him and on the other hand you have some saying that a quality QB can overcome the team's limitations even in the playoffs. Some truth in both theories I guess. Stafford has also played a lot with injuries and is a little beaten up. He doesn't miss many games but the injuries obviously have some effect and he's already been in the league for ten years or so. No one doubts his ability to make the throws. I still think the Rams are a bit brittle squad wise. If they get a few injuries in key positions they could be in trouble. The Niners B team managed to beat them twice last season but Goff also played a part in those defeats. How the Niners go without Saleh will also be interesting as their defense has been their strength for the past two seasons.

Right now the spreads I see are 3-4 points. Calente Casino here in Ensenada will probably end up paying $22 or 23 bucks for a winning 20 dollar straight bet, and all the complicated parlays, like final score, combined totals and winner make this game too close for me to waste $30-50 bucks on what looks like a toss up for now.
Listened to a radio interview were Pats fans, rather than be complete haters, wished Brady the best because of long time relationship

There kills the text rumor on the McAfee show about his wife and a friend talking how Luck was speaking to Jimmy from the Colts and he misses playing football.
He could be really missing football, but still not willing to make the sacrifices to come back.

I am curious what the minds at IND are thinking about for the QB position. I hope that they aren't too set on Watson because I just don't see him getting traded. There likely won't be a franchise QB at #21 (I guess they could trade up), but you never know who will be around or who will end up being great from later in the draft (see Roger Staubach, Tom Brady, Russell Wilson, Arron Rodgers, etc.).

Seems like the Colts are getting a few warnings about taking Wentz as well. I think the Watson situation would have to get worse before the Texans even thought about trading him. Opportunity for the new GM to get the team back on track. More chance Wentz gets shipped simply because it seems he wants out now and he has already burnt some bridges at the Eagles with his behavior. I think he's a risk but so is Goff and Stafford and new coaches might be able to get through to him. Like Goff the Wentz contract is problematic so only desperate teams might be interested. The 49ers were not prepared to go all in for Stafford so I doubt it happens for Wentz as well. The Cousins rumors are always floating around Shanahan but the consensus seems to be that even though he's more available than Jimmy he's not much of an upgrade if at all.

If I was a GM I wouldn't even consider Wentz.

As someone who lives in northern Connecticut, which is loaded with Pats fans, the general consensus around here is to cheer for Tampa, "Brady's team".

I think it's certain Wentz is going to get dealt, someone will eat his contract, somehow, even though I think expecting him to take your team to the promised land would be a big mistake. I'd even rate him less likely to succeed than Andy Dalton. But someone desperate will likely take him on in a multi-player/draft swap.

With Watson, I wonder if teams are really going to give up everything Houston is going to want in return, as Watson is a marquee player, and I think far more upside than Wentz (or Goff, or Stafford for that matter). This could set up a situation where Watson actually refuses to practice, or play, next year. I read somewhere that he came from such humble beginnings, and doesn't live high on the hog at all, so tossing away a few hundred $k in fines, even a few million, won't bother him. An extreme of Le'veon Bell.

My thoughts on SF are that JG isn't that bad, he's just hurt too often. The one game where he had a chance to really have a big game on his shoulders, last year's SB, they played too low risk at the end of the game which cost SF the win IMO. Now, would Jimmy been able to win the game for them late? I don't know, but if he's healthy, there are far worse QB's out there to have.

Super happy day for me yesterday when Tom Flores was finally announced to have made the Hall of Fame. Raiders fans complain a lot that if there are 20 guys who aren't in the Hall but should be, half of them are Raiders. There's some validity to these complaints, which stem from Al Davis thumbing his nose at the NFL (a 30 for 30 now made on this very topic), and I think blowback from that. Dave Casper took too long to get in. Everyone knew Ray Guy would be the first punter in, but it took forever. Stabler had to die to get in, etc. But to me while there are a lot of Raiders who could be in (Plunkett, Dalby, Townsend, Chester, Hayes) and might one day get there, only two have really been snubbed up to now: Flores, and Cliff Branch. Flores especially obvious to me. Four SB rings, one as a player, one as an assistant, two as HC, and both of those wins came with teams underdogs, with players not though to have what it took (Plunkett comes to mind). He also broke down many barriers in the NFL for hispanics. Kudos Tom!

Props also to Alex Smith for his comeback. Just setting foot back on the playing field after that injury is something. He did far more than that, leading his team to the playoffs, giving them badly needed leadership in the process, playing well, even if not at the level he was before the injury.

Final Super Bowl thoughts:

Every bit of logic in me tells me that KC is going to win the game, but it will be close. One of those 31-29 games Mahomes wins late. KC has too much firepower, a great coach, and the best player in the league in Mahomes, the most dangerous player in the league. But KC has shown they can be beat. They won some games this year they could have lost, and Cleveland almost toppled them.

On paper Tampa almost seems like they shouldn't be there. Blown plays almost gave them a win in GB, and Brees hurt sure helped them win that game. But any deep thinking also has me see ways of Tampa pulling out a win, like they did those games against those great QB's. As I noted a week ago only a fool would count Brady out. His leadership, like a coach on the field (Arians even noted this) is a huge boost as well. I also have been impressed with Tampa's defense, and with Eric Fisher out at LT for KC, Tampa's impressive front four will be a handful to deal with. I don't see KC able to run the ball much at all. Now, they don't have to, really, but if they could at least some, it would be nice. If TB can jam Hill and Kelcy at the line at least some, while pressuring Mahomes, it could be a key to Tampa pulling out a win. They also seem a little more relaxed than the Chiefs do in the days leading up to the game. I'm not sure if this is Brady, Arians, Bowles, other vets like Gronk, Suh, Paul, or all of the above. But even then, that's a tall order. KC is so explosive, I can also see many drives where Tampa has impressive plays, only to see Mahomes convert 3rd and 11 type downs that make the difference, and frustrate Tampa by game's end.

Tom Flores, well deserved.
And as far as all I don't know about professional football, and specifically about the position of quarterback. If you take a few steps back, and then a couple more, this must be the exceptionally difficult position to play, 10's of millions of dollars spent on scouting, video analysis, practice teams, development camps, 2,3rd stringers sitting around paid to practice but take few snaps under NFL real game conditions..and now a complete human shuffleboard as QB's are moved all over the place, and as from the outside,it looks like new talent is in ultra scarcity.
I have seen a few interviews with NFL know it alls, including one I watched recently, Tom Brady often comes up. In the JJ interview I saw he told about over and over staffers and agents would come to him..the guy is 6three, great arm, great 40 time, show him film..and he said all those things are important, but knowing how to play, how to win is a huge factor.
I thought of my own experiences in multiple sports were people are special, they just make things happen, I raced w guys, major race winners in the US and Europe, in hindsight,it was always there, even kind of obvious that they were great, and at the very least winners.
And my experiences in HS football in Scottsdale,at the time not a talent hotbed..a guy 3 classes above me..most yards rushing, most passes caught, always on the field for special teams, smashing people whether catching or defending and always sacking people and leading the team in tackles was a bench warmer for the Denver Broncos for 2 years.eye opening..
I look at the 2 QB's today and think, have I ever seen anyone better? I am positive that there are many high school and college athletes who competed against these 2 and were consistently burned, and look now and feel better about themselves watching it happen to the best players on the planet.

21-6 TB. A great game by them so far with the biggest hiccup being the turnover on downs. They should have had Fournette run the ball instead of Jones in my opinion.
TB has to keep performing in the second half and if they do the Chiefs shouldn't catch them.

Shocked by the result. Kansas offense couldn't get going. Last year's SB the refs didn't want to call for holding but they made up for it this year ! Buccs did s good job on Mahomes. Brady seemed to have it under control a long way from the finish and the Buccs running game was causing problems.
