I'm starting to think the 17 game schedule, with only one bye week, may have something to do with it. I realize it's only one more game per season (until they up it to 18 games in the next couple years), but it's causing calculations among some teams realizing they don't need to win every week. So resting a little, dropping a game, not such a big deal. The only exception may be teams vying for the first seed, as that's the only team that gets a rest week come playoffs.

Colts have been underrated much of the season. Look at the games they've played.

I can't tell if KC really is that good, or not? Dallas didn't play very well, and numerous times the Chiefs could not execute like the last few seasons.

Yes, Patriots actually are now in first place.

Watching the Carrol interview after the game,he really couldn't hide how depressed he is over Seahawks freefall..
Was really happy to see grampa in at QB for the Jets,he didn't look half bad..
speaking of old people,Big Ben Rothlessburger can't be blamed for most of what happened in the backfield..Bosa and others charging in unblocked, or arm pushed is not going to be effective..and seeing @15 minutes of Cam Newton..it looks like if quarterbacks,kickers are in short supply,so are good offensive linemen..super high speed play development as many teams don't even attempt to create a pocket..

I think Brady and Mahomes should be the front runners for MVP. They’ve been 1st and 2nd for almost all of the quarterback stats the whole season. On top of around 5 interceptions each being from their receivers. They both lead by a wide margin on att, comp, and 1st downs.

Mahomes has not had his bye week yet though.

On Alpe’s point about the 17 games, TB has put in their backups whenever they can to try and rest for all the games especially since they probably won’t get the number 1 seed.

No QB has looked dominant this year. Murray was my pick for MVP until he got hurt, but the Cardinals were mostly fine even without him.

Colts would have to have a good record too. I think if either finish 5000 and 50 it’s be hard not to give it to them because it is so QB driven.

this is journalistic malpractice, anyone who watched the interview would be able to tell jokes from serious takes...so WSJ writer is either antisocial idiot who cannot do so, or intentionally missleading - i dont know whats worse

its such a clickbait article, because they couldnt wait for press conference, they had to publish a story first to get clicks

its the same story with firing Nagy in chicago, somebody tweeted, people couldnt wait for his press conference, ran with the story, only to be denied 24 hours later but it doesnt matter anymore because they got their clicks

the funny thing is despite obvious poor journalism, its not Nagy who is an idiot, its not publications who are idiots, its people who got baited and clicked the article

we are probably at a point where unless its reported by ian rapoport or tom pelissero, dont even pay attention to it - even schefter lost most of his goodwill

As you said, hopefully he will get the support he needs, but stepping away from football might not be the best course of action. If his joy in life is playing football, working out with his team, etc., removing that might make it worse.

Since I'm still pissy about how unprofessional the officiating is in the NFL let me talk about two specific things from today so far:
-In the Jr. High game this morning: the Lions called back to back time outs, the rules expert explains that "the officials are instructed to ignore the second one, but if they do recognize it, its a penalty". WTF?! Unprofessional!
-On the DAL scoring drive just before the half the ref on the goal line doesn't notice that Pollard is laying on the ground, and that the ball clearly hits the grass short of the goal line (farthest point of the reach and plane not broken), but he still sort of raises his hands after checking with the line judge for a sideline 'all clear'. 1) if you can't see that play, you should not be an official, 2) raise your fn arms you lazy old man! Unprofessional!

Neither of these plays had an impact on the games because the CHI vs. DET game means nothing, and DAL ended up scoring on the next play, but they show how unprofessional the officials both on and off the field are.
