Neither the Cowboys or Lions were convincing nor were the QBs who will have to do better than that in the playoffs. Cowboys will be praying that Lamb stays fit. No surprise as is often the way now in close games, the referees had the final say. Detroit will go into the playoffs with an extra edge especially if they face the Cowboys again.Scrappy game, had a playoff feel to it. Goff especially will be disappointed with his performance especially in the final minutes. Cowboys stay in the hunt for the NFC East but it's hard to see the Eagles losing one of their two remaining games but never say never. Detroit 's chances at the one seed look done.

Another disastrous game for NFL officiating. An absolute, total embarassment. I spent too much time reading up on this, re-watching it.

That extra point play is a perfect example why the ref's need to be mic'd up, which I have said before, that the XFL did with great success. This would have solved everything.

Dan Campbell post-game said he clearly explained to the officials what he was attempting to do, players and everything. But we will never know. Taylor Decker (who caught the pass) talked to the referees, but we will never know what he said, or they said. But after he talked to them, the other tackle, Dan Skipper also talked to them. We will never know what he said either. The Dallas stadium announcer (apparently) reported Skipper as eligible. Did the officials mention this to the stadium officials? We will never know. Decker caught the pass, Lions take the lead. But then the officials threw the flag. And a group of officials were discussing the play. At first the Lions appeared happy with the call, and my guess is because someone on the team (Goff? He was standing there) heard something about the tackle reporting eligible. But we'll never know, because the ref's weren't mic'd up. They then changed their mind or whatever they did (if only they were mic'd up), and called the penalty effectively giving the game to Dallas. One of the announcers said it could have been illegal formation. However, from what I read on line, that's not true presuming only Decker reported eligible, and Skipper was not. Again, we'll never, ever know.

Watching the Cowboys collapse at the end was something. Watching the Lions inability to execute much of the game something else. Why the Lions didn't go for 1 and feed off the energy from the highly questionable call into OT, we'll never know.
To add onto this, 70 had been eligible on previous plays. So in theory 68 could be there with the other lineman (58) to try and confuse Cowboys more in a crucial/stressful situation due to the similar numbers, both are in the refs face talking to the ref, 70 comes over to tell the refs he’s not eligible because he had been eligible previously but at that point the ref ran of. It could all come down to the ref messing up the number and covering his mistake unfortunately and without them being held accountable nothing will change. Just another week go by with an issue and there will probably be something worse tomorrow to take us off this.

I also don’t remember the stadium announcing who’s eligible before the ball was snapped.

Looking at just the score it’s easy to say both teams offense played bad and defense played well but both offenses were moving the ball. Cowboys definitely got the turnovers when it needed them (and a big reason why they won) and a fourth and goal stop but its own offense was worse compared to their 30 plus points per game at home average. I think the Lions overall played better than Cowboys but Lamb was absolutely destroying Lions defense. Another game decided in a way as well by going for it and not attempting the 3 points. Then at the end like Alpe, said we will never know who’s at fault but Lions are 100000% pointing the blame at the refs with the video evidence. The first 2 point conversion attempt was fine, but after that I think they should have kicked the extra point and see what happens in OT. Absolutely they should have done gone for the PAT on the third attempt because their defense had been playing well against the Cowboys, Lamb was the one beating them up and Lions in theory would be rejuvenated by in their mind an inaccurate penalty.

This shows video of Goff sending them to report to the refs and them speaking to the ref. But we will never know what was said unless one of the players was mic’s up(doubtful),

Overall I think both teams can make it to the divisional round but think Lions can still do something in the playoffs.

I agree with the first time, especially by at first they looked like they got it but the other two were questionable, especially the last. But that’s how Campbell isn
There were 2 passes in the 4th qtr that frustrated Goff. The first was the INT pass that was low and his receiver simply dropped his hands and waited for the pass to get to him. That gave the defender time to jump his route and pick it. Totally on the receiver and Dallas drove to a TD off that drive.
The second was an easy TD to the left that was also so low as to be uncatchable. Detroit did score but Goff can't toss those limp deliveries.
CD Lamb did absolutely everything including grabbing the closing onside kick. He won 50% of the game for Dal, Detroit gave the other 50% to them by trying for 2 points instead of rolling with their momentum. Dan: there's aggressive gambling and then there's not giving your team a more conservative way to win.

Biggest one has to be the low ball on the third 2 point try otherwise that’s an easy walk in.

I'm sure Denver will say George Paton only reminded Russ he was making a lot of money and expecting to lead them to the promised land, and he was at risk of being benched due to poor performance, blah blah. But the details will come out, which could really bite them in the rear.

I can't understand what Dan Campbell is saying. I'll give him a pass here.

Only commenting on a few games.

MIA@BAL - The Ravens really should win, but Miami can if they just attack, attack, attack.
LV@IND - I think this is a tough match-up for the Raiders. I see Indy winning a close game.
NO@TB - All the marbles for the NFC South here (for the most part).
BUF@NE - This has the look of a trap game for Buffalo.
LAR@NYG - Another potential trap game.
ATL@CHI - Snow game! Falcons need to win to stay alive.

Dolphins got absolutely destroyed by the best team in the AFC at this point. If Bills lose next week they could still not make the playoffs but I think they’re going to get the win, especially with the injuries mounting up for Dolphins.

Raiders had one job.

Bengals most likely lose by 3 or less with a game saving penalty (DPI) and fourth down stop.

I’ll say again what I’ve said after the previous two wins: the Seahawks just aren’t very good, particularly on defense. It’s killed them to have their two fastest linebackers ( Brooks and Taylor) not available—they get mutilated on mid-range passes over the middle.

Also Geno has overthrown the fade route in goal-to-go situations four times in the past two weeks. Even if Metcalf caught that one at the end, he was already too far out of bounds.

They have superb talent in the skill positions, but can’t make it click consistently ( and sometimes not all). Not sure it’s all on Geno. Play calling? Overall offensive strategy?

Exactly...forgot the penalty controversy BS, Goff completely blew it on that throw. All he has to do is get the ball up higher so Mitchell can make a clean catch & he walks into the endzone (even Aikman pointed this out on the replay).

So, Goff lost the game & failed to deliver when the chips were down. It's not a difficult throw to make - most rookies in the league can do it. Lol. Here's a replay with a slow motion shot @ 2:50 into the video:

That's why despite the ref's botching the game, I didn't have much praise for either team. Both teams in many ways deserved to lose. Dallas is going to somehow take that division though.

So, who can possibly beat the Ravens? And I don't mean next week when they can rest everyone. Cleveland did beat them earlier in the season, but...

I'm not sure Miami can even beat Buffalo next week.

Cardinals win over the Eagles really opened a door for SF, and Dallas. What a disastrous game for Philly. Just looking at playoff predictors they look ripe to lose to even Tampa, who flatlined against the Saints before blowing a furious late comeback. Classic Derek Carr game, win when your season is about over.

The Giants had the Rams beat, twice , and blew it.

Raiders OL folded. Got some bad calls. But they just couldn't throw down field.

Bengals folded too, but they couldn't move the ball and blew 2 red zone opportunities. I have little faith of KC getting far in the playoffs. They need home games to win, and need to play average teams.

49ers lock up the one seed with the Eagles loss. Rams lock up a playoff spot. Shocked by the Miami result, not so shocked by the Eagles loss to the Cards. Close win and loss margins for Rams/Seattle, the difference is the Rams are getting regular wins at the moment. Falcons are done. Cowboys might get what they need, a home playoff series. Bills ran it close as they often do at the moment. Denver get the win.

Be interesting to see how the 49ers play it next week re resting players as it's a dead rubber for both the Rams and 49ers. Maybe Purdy plays a half and Darnold the second half. With the 49ers banged up on defense and O line, the next couple of weeks will be a blessing.

Dunno what to make of Miami. Eagles one and done wouldn't surprise me. Rams have to like how it's turned out for them and have rode their luck with close games. I think they are the biggest danger to the 49ers in the NFC. 49ers just seem to have the answers to the Cowboys, winning their last three games. Dunno if Detroit are going to find another gear in the playoffs and their coaching decisions are a large part of it. Ravens are clear favourites in the AFC.

With the Steelers & Chiefs wins, the Broncos are officially eliminated from the playoffs. Lol. The Bronco's O looked flat - I didn't see this "spark" that Payton said would happen with Stidham. And Stidham did just enough to get by - but anything far removed from a spectacular or even impressive performance (I think he's auditioning for the backup role next year. Lol).

This is a lousy Chargers team that's functioning with an interim coach & a backup QB, and can't wait until the season is over. The Broncos should have blown them out of Empowered Field @ Mile High. I believe if Wilson played, they would have hung 35+ points on the Chargers. This game definitely had a preseason feel about it (I was dozing off lot during the game. Lol).

Nothing but a perpetual clown show with this Broncos organization - I'm through watching this team. I don't care if they win, lose or tie against the Raiders next week - it's a turd game with no meaning that will have another preseason feel to it. Lol.

Congratulations to the Chiefs for their eighth straight division title - 7 out of the eight with the gunslinger at the helm. Solid performance by Mahomes - no injuries, no turnovers, no frustration after the game. And Pacheco is back torching the Bengals for 130 yds & catching a couple of passes - one really nice grab for a score in the end zone.

I think the Chiefs are the second best team in the AFC - ahead of the Dolphins after their disastrous loss to the Ravens. However, the Ravens are looking like the strong favorite to win the conference championship & play in the SB. It looks like it's their year. And without the injury bug this year, Lamar has been on fire looking like he'll easily win MVP! We'll see if the Chiefs can make run in the playoffs & play the Ravens in the conference championship.

Chiefs moved the ball better but couldn’t convert to score touchdowns but all they need was field goals. I read a lot that field goals won’t win you games by Chiefs fans and foe alike but they’re quick to forget Steelers beating the Chiefs by only kicking field goals in I think Smith’s last game as a Chief. Like I said before, Chiefs defense is elite and will keep them in the game. Their offense just can’t screw the pooch. MVS might be on the bench the way he responded to Mahomes’s two throws.

With a healthy Pacheco, I wouldn't count them out just yet. He adds "spark" to that offense & takes a lot of pressure off of Mahomes. He even caught a nice pass for a score in the end zone (take away that grab & they barely win). I think he's the most underrated back in the league right now.

Miami started well but each mistake got punished. The two turnovers and the kick return didn't help. Ravens just rolled over them in the second half.

49ers got the job done and took CMC out early although the calf injury doesn't seem serious.

NFL Research: Brock Purdy passed Justin Herbert and tied Russell Wilson for the most games with a 110-plus passer rating in a player’s first two seasons.

Eagles simply cannot stop the run. One good RB is all it takes it seems and Conner obliged but the Cards other players were also making easy yards as well and Murray's scrambles just made it worse. Eagles season is imploding while the Bills have managed to right the ship but none too convincingly at times. McBride looks like a good talent at TE for the Cards. If they draft well on defense Cards could be improver's next season. their offense is decent and the run game is good., maybe the following season is more realistic as they have lost a lot of players.

Good win for Green Bay. bad loss for Hawks.

Seahawks are a mediocre team. They may yet get into the playoffs, but need to beat the Cards and the Bears to beat the Packers on the road for that to happen. I actually have more confidence in the Bears to pull that off than the Seahawks to beat the Cards.

Did the Seahawks have a draft pick residual option that would improve by losing to Pitt? They were hurt, thin on defense but I had to ask if there was an upside I missed.
Otherwise they played like a one and out Wild Card candidate. They're just too thin on talent with Walker hurt again and no linebackers. As Alpe' predicted it would be an attrition season for all.

I forgot but the Chiefs also almost had two huge special teams mistakes with the muffed kickoff and fielding the punt at the goal line. If those go the other way for a recovery and safety it most likely is a loss. They have to make sure that doesn’t become a recurring mistake.

SEA forgot that it was tackle football. Injuries haven't helped them, but they look like what they are, a 9-8/8-9 team this year. 19 teams are .500 or below with another five only one game above .500 right now so they are in good company. This is what we want right, just not when its my team that's in the parity mix.

BAL...WOW!
PHI...certainly struggling, but they can't be overlooked for a playoff run.
GB...is a dangerous 8-8 team that has matured throughout the season.
'Resting' strategies will be interesting.

Good point about the resting strategies. One of the announcers yesterday said Harbaugh believed the playoff bye was a disadvantage for his team the last time they had one. Though this current team looks like a juggernaut right now so not sure it will matter.
