Good to know I'm not as old as you are. ;) I experienced similar, though no championship. I don't remember it being too cold on field, or in the stands as a fan, to play, sit the pine (which was my primary position . I had yet to discover the joy of the bicycle), or do anything else. Great memories.
I bet you're not too far behind me the way you recall some of those great NFL moments back in the 70's. Lol.

I got lucky finally earning a starting spot on varsity my senior year (safety) on a pretty deep team we had (23 seniors - one of the largest in the history of the school). And we were actually co-champs as the game ended in a 6-6 tie & there was no OT for 4A championship games in Colorado football back then. Lol.

We were the middle-class kids from Westminster (suburb of Denver) playing the rich kids from the upper echelon Fairview HS in Boulder. Lol. Btw, I played against Chuck Pagano - he was the starting QB for Fairview that year (his dad, Sam, was the HC & he's in the Colorado coaches HOF). Pagano was all-state & went on to play at Wyoming before starting his coaching career.

You're that confident they can waltz right into Buffalo and take them out? To me one team showed up today. Granted, KC played very good, no question about it. But the Dolphins were a shell of the team that played much of the season, in addition to being completely banged up. Almost from the first series they looked like they didn't want to be there, and played terrible. So, I'll tell you what was wrong with the Dolphins. The high temperature in Miami today was 83 degrees.
Well, first the Bills have to beat Pitt. I think this postponement gives an advantage for the Steelers as they get an extra day to prepare for the game (this is always an advantage for the away team that normally loses some prep time on traveling). So, I think it's a coin flip as to who's going to win this game. So, whether the Chiefs play Pitt or Buffalo, I still have them in AFC championship.

Very, very cool that you made that team. It's the best part of the sport and what amateur athletics was about.

My cycling escapade oddly started while in a pads off practice as an auditioning wide reciever. I beat the DB badly and caught a short-ish pass. The DB came at me and I juked him again. He grabbed my arm and took it 180 degrees from front to back.
Football done; I was asked to try out for Cross Country which destroyed sprinting for me. Long story shortening; that training made cycling a very compatible sport when I found it in my 30s. If I'd stayed in football I wouldn't have made it to my 30s.
All things being equal....I'd have loved to play basketball most but quit growing in 6th grade. Football on a rainy field was still a cool experience, though. Colorado probably exposed you to much worse conditions!

Meanwhile, fish in a barrel for the Packers. All the talk and hype about the Cowboy defense, Micah Parsons, Damarcus Lawerence, Gilmore, etc. Here's an SI article this morning about how Dallas would overwhelm the Packers on both sides of the ball.

By the way, for those of you who remember my prediction from when the season started, I have the local Arlington EMT phone number ready on speed dial for when Jerry does collapse. He'll be okay. ;)

I am watching it on Fox 4 Dallas and they have this emergency beep sound about cold weather conditions, but when I read your post I looked closer to see if Jerry Jones exploded!!
Big plays all day out of all Packers..

We could go around in circles on this, I'm sure.

My general thought is getting a team "at their best" is not as clear as such a statement makes it sound. For example, Miami certainly wasn't at their best yesterday. And they would not have been at their best even if they played in Miami, since they had a heap of players out. No one in their right mind would argue Cincinnati was at their best for a single game this season. I also believe poor officiating has caused far more damage than bad weather, but I blame the NFL for this, not the officials (mostly).

As to stadiums, the one thing I've never really understood though is why more stadiums are not built like the new Highmark they are building in Buffalo. One that is not enclosed, but has seats all around it, with a large awning covering many fans. Seattle's Lumina is like this (though somewhat open in one end, old-school), and even more so Dallas. This seems like a stadium that is the best of both worlds. Yes, it will be really cold if open air, and can snow, but such a design helps many fans, cuts quite a bit on the wind, which is what affects the passing game. I don't really care for retractable domes though, even if open air and not climate controlled. Partly because most of the time they are closed.

Renderings of Buffalo's new stadium going in:

Why the heck Tennessee is putting in a dome, or retractable roof is beyond me. Maybe they are thinking ahead to the year 2041 when global warming makes games in October 85 degrees and muggy?
At their best for what they have that day, obviously.
Their defense was missing their two best players plus several others, yet still played well.

Their O was terrible with the exception of one drive and a few plays here and there. As I said above though, I give 80% of that credit to the KC D. EDIT: Imagine if they scored their season average of 29...it makes it a different game.

The field yesterday was very good except for a few spots, and all of the lines were clearly visible too. The weather related issues were cold fingers and hard footballs (those two things are just on the edge of my yearly rant WAY behind playing surface quality and visibility of field markings).

McCarthy has got to go. What an embarrassment. He's now 1-3 in post-season with the Cowboys. You can't be reeling off 12 win seasons & losing at home in the 1st rd of the playoffs. This has got to be the most overrated & underachieving team in the last 5 yrs.

And the Pack is Back! Is Jordan Love the real deal? This club started off bad but has really turned it around the 2nd half of the season as Jordan is getting experience & developing from game to game. They are 7-2 in their last 9 games with big wins over KC, Detroit & now Jerry's boys. They could have the hot hand in the playoffs.

Green Bay will play the 49ers. Detroit have a real chance in the draw now to get to the NFC game if they beat the Rams. A Green Bay win over the Niners would just tip everything on it's head according to the odds makers and experts. Green Bay first 7th seed to win a playoff game.

What to make of the Cowboys, I can't say I'm too surprised, we have seen this too often in recent times and they lost their first home game forever. Once thing is a clear, a decent run game will always test them. Bad result for Quinn, Dak and McCarthy as Skip Bayless is probably already saying. don't see Jerry not making changes this time. they got rid of their OC two seasons ago when it was obvious he was just the fall guy. Their problems are deeper than that. It's obvious that their defense and O line need fresh blood and they still rely too much on Lamb with the offense. Pollard isn't a high volume RB or as versatile as other ones.

U of Michigan took the college title so if Detroit wins the SB....

It's too late for me to think, but has the college football champ and the superbowl champ been from the same state in the same year?

Maybe Pitt and Pittsburgh in the 70s

Actually Parsons might have done better than Pollard. :p
