Never thought about it as a kid played baseball w a kid LDS and his family had a prepper pantry before it was cool!! Had a bedroom full of food!! I am losing most hope that Chargers are getting anything more than a better coaching staff!! Also sort of confused about $16 million bucks, you don't want to keep Henry in the backfield for $16-18 million for 2_years? Some of these running back trades look like teams are losing by trading.. said LAC fan..
The Eugene side just listens to different music and enjoy the bounties of the earth...

Is Denver really looking to sign Zach Wilson?

From Mile High Report - Why would anybody pay him money on game day other than to scan tickets?

If this is their plan it would possibly be the death knell for GM George Paton. If you're going to take a risk, then overdraft. The problem with Wilson is there is so much baggage that if he doesn't do well at all it will be easy for everyone (not just ownership) to look at his past highlight reel of bad plays and go, "what were you possibly thinking?" The risk is absurdly high. Unless it's maybe a 1 year deal, and Denver has every intention of drafting McCarthey, Nix or Penix at 12 and thinks that rookie may need to sit a half season (or much less if Wilson is as bad as in NY). But if that's the case why not just overdraft a rookie, and tell the world he's your future QB, though Stidham may start if he plays better through camp. Why even bring Wilson on board?? Here's my favorite quote from the article:

"Wilson is what happens when blindly seeing the highlights of quarterback play without taking a critical eye on more important factors regarding the position than the ability to create outside the structure of the offense. ...Wilson gets pressured and runs around in the backfield like he’s waiting for Apple maps to load without any cell towers in the area.”

I said the same above...Z Wilson isn't the answer to anything. A kid from the draft can do the same job for less money, and with less baggage.

I don't see how this makes much sense, unless they view him as a project and he drops to round 2 and they sit him a year? The Raiders just signed Gardner Minshew, who has a lot of experience, to compete with Aiden O'Connell, who showed a lot of improvement at the end of last season. It seems to me these two are the direction the Raiders are going. Either O'Connell will continue to improve and win the job over the next 1-2 years, or he won't and Minshew will be the bridge until they find their next QB. It makes little sense to draft Penix. If they did, and kept all three, then one goes to the practice squad and is the emergency QB. Which guy? O'Connell after closing out the end of the season strong as the starter, throwing 9 TDs to 0 INT's during that time? They're going to send him to third string? Or are they going to trade O'Connell? It doesn't add up. I think if the Raiders are going to dump O'Connell and move forward, they would make a blockbuster trade leading to the draft and go after Jayden Daniels. That pick makes much more sense to me.

As exciting as Penix could be, I'd be very concerned about him making it through an 17-18 game schedule in the NFL with all of his past injuries.
Penix in the lower rounds to spend the year developing (and adding a few pounds of muscle) isn't a bad idea. The mustache and Aiden O to battle for QB1.

I am not a Zach Wilson fan at all.. and if you see players like Brock Purdy, play, do the job first or any outward overconfidence is going to look silly.
The NY market is different than most because huge population with Connecticut, NY, NJ, PA all being fans of the teams and Wilson fell immediately into the trap of big media.. Alex Rodriguez, Derek Jeter, other players from different sports working it,
but for Farve, Wilson, Sanchez, Geno Smith and dozens of others it doesn't work.. When Plaxico Burress shot himself while out at a Dominican dance club, all the media was after the entire organization!! Do Giants play so bad because everyone is out in NYC partying..Doesn't have to be true or based in fact, just every press conference they ask coaches " are you changing policy about smoking weed, doing blow and chasing women all night, or will it be business as usual? " just a distraction.
With Wilson and his mom, family, they implied that the Jets were losers because everyone was caught up in big city lights and glamour and not 1000% dedicated to football. After a while media was asking Wilson " so you have tried all the holier than thou stuff and Mr. Purity and you suck, ever think that a night out dancing, enjoying the city might knock you out of your funk? Couldn't be any worse right? " ..I am sure it's the same for many players.. Wilson was on his heals fast and he never recovered..don't think he brings much to the field and nothing to the locker room..

In all of the PIT debate, what happens to Rudolph?
View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swSkNYzqi8Q
Great narration on that vid! I too wonder where Rudolph's future lies. Outplayed Pickett and Trubisky (and Russell Wilson) down the stretch!
The 'Stache abides....
Hey, Aiden's ain't too bad either!
i

I see it coming in camp, Stash vs. Stash for the starting gig! And if the Raiders draft Penix (or Daniels, or Nix, or someone else) that person must grow a stash too.

Another "failed" NY Jet QB who might have had potential was Christian Hackenberg. Came out of Penn State with a good arm and playing a pro-like set. Never got off the ground there despite being taken in the 2nd round. Another bad story (but a guy who played more) was Jet Kellen Clemons, he didn't have a great arm but saw the field well and was taken in the 2nd round by the Jets. His career lasted longer but didn't pan out. Clemons pretty much ended his career as a place-holder for the Chargers kicker. Not saying either of these guys were the next Tom Brady, but I would imagine in a better system they could have been at least better career back-ups.

Having lived in that part of the country for several years you are spot on correct. People elsewhere often don't get it, but the media (plus social media) is not only huge there - a global epicenter, it's also densely populated. But also people in that part of the country are very direct, little filter, they'll say what they feel right then and there. It's like the opposite of Salt Lake City. (Or Seattle. LOL!)

It often takes someone who can embrace it, roll with it, and smile through the criticism, or sometimes flick a little back, to make it work. This is another reason Joe Namath will always be loved there.

One guy who did surprisingly well in the NY market was Eli Manning. Even being from the south, and his occasional stammer, he just let all the criticism roll off him, and talked about football, and answered all reporters questions.

So just to add to some bizarre, sky is falling sports writing, Charger specific sites are reporting that if Justin Fields goes to the Raiders, that's terrible news for the LAC because they will face him twice per year and have a problem with the long ball!!

When you go to NYC and you can deliver a winner for the Devils,Nets,Mets,Yankees, Rangers, Knicks,Giants, Jets,Islanders your career is solid..
If Aaron Rodgers was to do something with the Jets , ticker tape parade!!

San Diego we have lost IHL hockey 2 times, lost Clippers and Chargers and Padres had to borrow money to make payroll and our 3 icon athletes, 2 are dead.. Junior Seau and Tony Gwynn and Tatis Jr signing for a billion dollars and gets popped for drugs!!
Hope Harbaugh is reading my whining and gets me a Super Bowl win!!
I will take anything..

True on NY. Look at Lenny Dykstra. Dude's life is a total mess, but Mets fans will forever love him. He's also as blunt "New York minute" as the best of 'em!

Why on earth would the Raiders trade for Fields at this point?? To have 3 QBs teetering between average and potential? And "the long ball"??? Have they watched him throw? One of the least accurate passers in the NFL. Wait, they must think running, long runs. Now I get it. Raiders don't need another RB though.

If you are some young punk and ask for a billion and they give it to you, right on!! In my book you can go full Aaron Rodgers!! Not even a full set of downs for your hype and contract cash!!
Wow...2.5 yrs for a RB is sad but not a surprise considering the size & speed of defense players these days. Take the modern day LB: The average weight is 244 lbs with many running 4.5 or better. The average weight of a RB is only 214 lbs. Add the impact factor of speed × mass & these RBs are getting the wrong end of the collisions. Plus some of these big, fat DLs are going on 325 + lbs. Factored them piling on the RB as he's going to the ground & it's nothing short of a miracle these RBs get right back up ready for the next play.

A guy like Henry is simply an anomaly to have the longevity he's had in his stellar career (he's only had a few minor injuries & one significant injury where he missed half a season one year with a broken foot). But he does pack on 247 lbs with 4.5 speed - so he's on par with the average LBs & outweighs all safeties by a large margin. But how often does a 245 lb + RB with 4.5 speed & incredible strength come along? And he's still playing at age 30? Are you kidding me?

What amazes me is the amount of scatbacks playing in this league (< 200 lbs). Their power to weight ratio is not great & they're outweighed by over 100 lbs by defensive lineman and even some edge rushers. How some of them are able to play an entire season without getting crushed to death is beyond me.

Even James White retired at 29 yrs old and he didn’t run as much as other running backs being used as a receiving back while also having a running back room with 3-4 other RBs that took the load off.

With some of these contracts, Defensive ends and running backs.. I would have thought that huge defensive players were also fragile, but from my tiny bit of observation, teams are saying 30yo for a running back is grandpa and looks like most teams are biting off 2 years at a time.. It's obvious that you get brutalized by design when you are designated ball carrier but must be some pretty strong data saying guys break often and early in their careers..

Raiders released Hunter Renfrow and Jimmy G. Eric Kendricks backed out of a deal with the 49ers to reunite with Mike Zimmer at the Cowboys. Armstead released by the 49ers as was Mike Williams by the Chargers. Mack re-signed with the Chargers but Joey Bosa hasn't. Bobby Wagner signed a one year deal with the Commanders.Mason Rudolph to the Titans.

And it begins with Rodgers shenanigans to be off the Jets.

I don't want to wander into a political conversation, but the candidate that might have AR as a running mate is not going to get elected so therefore, AR will not be VP. Stretching even closer to the limit here, tell us that your campaign isn't serious without telling us that your campaign isn't serious.
