No question Wilson will end up somewhere as the starter. There's still coaches out there that believe they can harness that arm talent & turn him into a franchise QB. But this remains yet to be seen & Wilson may ultimately end up as another journeyman backup following the career path of the likes of Trubisky.

The Jets must have a curse with QBs. Like you said dumping #2 & #3 OA picks just after a few years. Then they go "all hands on deck" acquiring Rodgers & he tears his Achilles on the 2nd offensive play of the first game of the season (you can't make this stuff up). And remember when Broadway Joe publicly criticized Wilson as having no business playing in the NFL - only to later walk back those comments. Lol. This league is becoming bipolar with QBs. Lol

Zach Wilson's mom should marry LaVar Ball ..start a reality show

Wilson to the Steelers? (I read a report a couple of days ago that he was going to Jersey & Jones was on the trading block. Lol)

I don't get the one-year contract? This doesn't make sense if they're flushing Pickett & want Wilson as the franchise QB.

Why would they need to commit to Wilson as a franchise? He'll come cheap to whomever gets him and you can continue to develop other talent.

...and mail some of that guaranteed money back. A-A-ron likes money. And do the other Favre stoopid things to compete with the Legend.
I lived through lots of crazy stuff and I will say that both New Jersey teams make bad things happen and for quarterbacks, Jets are make or break with most coming out broken.
I do like the only New York team, Buffalo Bills!! California quarterback!!
A-A Ron is from Chico!!

He sounds like he's from the Prepper side of Eugene.
Never thought about it as a kid played baseball w a kid LDS and his family had a prepper pantry before it was cool!! Had a bedroom full of food!! I am losing most hope that Chargers are getting anything more than a better coaching staff!! Also sort of confused about $16 million bucks, you don't want to keep Henry in the backfield for $16-18 million for 2_years? Some of these running back trades look like teams are losing by trading.. said LAC fan..

Why else would he be brought into the Steelers organization? He's not going to be the backup & mentor to Pickett (a SB winning QB, 9xPro Bowler & future HOFer isn't going to hold a clipboard & try to develop some overrated 1st rd drafted kid that couldn't the job done the over the previous 2 seasons. Lol).

Barring injury, Wilson will be giving the car keys & at the helm week #1. And I doubt Pickett would want to stand on the sidelines cheerleading Wilson & acting like he belongs on the bench (total humiliation).

Pickett is a 1st rounder - 20th OA - and the Golden boy from the Univ of Pitt. He's a Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award winner. I would imagine he must have been pretty ticked off when he got word of this move & started talking with his agent. And with the musical chairs going on with all these QB moves, I would think there's a few teams out there that for the right price would be willing to give Pickett another chance at starting.

Wilson was brought in because Broncos are paying 90+% of his salary. There’s no risk for any team to pick him up with that, Steelers just did it first. If Pickett out performs Wilson in training and preseason, Wilson isn’t starting. If he’s cut this season by Steelers and/or plays poorly he’s going the way of Newton and Kapernick. Nor is it actually guaranteed he will be in the HOF. Any chance he’s been given to cook, he’s burned the meal.

WTH? I think you're delusional (have you been partying too much there in Vegas? Lol). Wilson having to compete against Pickett for starting job? Lol. C'mon man...Wilson wouldn't sign with the Steelers without being assured that he's the starter. Look what happen at Denver when he was humiliated by Payton benching him in favor of some guy named "Stidham." (and the Broncos were still in the hunt for a playoff spot when Wilson was benched!) You don't think that didn't piss Wilson off? He's not going to put up with crap like that - that's why he bolted out of Denver. Lol.

Try to look at this move realistically Shadow. The Steelers are NOT satisfied with Pickett...period! As I said, he's the Golden boy from Pitt & a 20th OA pick - he was drafted to be Big Ben's heir apparent! He failed miserably at leading Pittsburgh back to the promised land & the Steelers are simply done with him (it was actually Rudolph who won the last few games of the season last year putting the team into the WC playoffs when Pickett was demoted to the backup role after he was cleared to play from his injury!).

Mark my words - Picket is done & Wilson is in. And the way owners are putting tremendous pressure on these 1st rounders to win immediately no matter what - this shouldn't be any big surprise.

And mark this, if Wilson doesn’t improve he won’t be on the team at the end of the season. Just like he won’t start if Pickett is playing better than him.

If Wilson doesn't lead the Steelers to a division title & at least one win in the playoffs, then I agree he probably won't be on the team at the end of the season - hence the 1 year contract (there's no rebuilding process here - the Steelers believe they're just one QB away from SB contention). So, clearly the pressure is on Wilson do something special at Pittsburgh than he failed to do at Denver.

But with Pickett it was actually over for him last year in week #18 against the Ravens. He was cleared to play & healthy from the ankle injury, and Tomlin refused to start him demoting him to the backup role instead sticking with Rudolph. And in the WC playoff game, it was Rudolph that Tomlin again went with.

Read between the lines here: Tomlin had NO confidence in Pickett anymore. You don't bench your 1st rd franchise QB - and the apparent to Big Ben - when he was cleared from the injury & healthy to play in favor of a 3rd rounder who was drafted primarily for a backup role. This was a big blow to Pickett and I'm sure he was thinking WTF (and probably on the phone with his agent. Lol).

So, it's clear Tomlin has no confidence in Pickett. Tomlin likes Wilson & Wilson wants to play for Tomlin instead of sticking it out with Payton (can't imagine why. Lol). Wilson is in...and Pickett is out. No surprises there in this crazy world of NFL QBs. Lol

Your real name isn't Nomad Wilson by any chance? If he is looking for a new agent hope he gives you a shot..!!
Wilson wasn't playing bad in Seattle, didn't come through big in Denver given the time frame, and can go either way in Pittsburgh ( San Francisco of the East) I hope majority of the NFL insiders have high but realistic expectations for any player but if Wilson either delivers a championship or he sucks that just sounds unrealistic to me..
If I was Pickett I would not take Russell Wilson coming to town as certain doom, you pointed out the obvious, that nothing about Wilson has been face value with other people paying a subsidy wherever he is playing

Wilson didn't come through "big time" in Denver and was benched for it in the 2nd to last game of the season. Payton had said to the media before the season that the Broncos were a playoff caliber team & that he'd be "pissed" if they didn't make the playoffs.

Well, he clearly took it out on Wilson by yelling & berating him on the sidelines there in front of everyone in the Lions game. Then the final straw comes when he's benched in favor of Stidham. This is Russell Wilson here that we're talking about - he doesn't have to take that kind of abuse. Do you think someone like Rodgers would put up with that?

Wilson wants play for Tomlin. For one, he'll be treated with more respect than he got from Payton. And Tomlin wouldn't be pursuing Wilson if Pickett could have gotten the job done. Pickett is another 1st rounder that couldn't meet the high expectations placed on him (no surprises there).

I think a lot of people are expecting Wilson to play better than I do. I won't be surprised at all if in Pittsburg his numbers aren't much different than Kenny Pickett. At best he'll play as average as he did last season. But he (and his ardent supporters) will keep talking like he's still the same Russ, just needs to cook more, and he can win a few more Super Bowls. Sure. Believe what you will.

If Wilson gets to the HOF on what he's done, then Jim Plunkett finally gets in.

As to Gus Edwards, I imagine what he really thinks is, "Why didn't they give me the ball a lot more in the AFC Championship???" Because he was their top RB, on the team with the best running attack in the league, against a team with one of the best pass defenses in the league, and the quit on him. DH will likely get less carries than Edwards did, but they might use him more effectively. Recall that the Ravens will also get Dobbins back at some point. The two of them, plus Lamar running for his yards, could again be a serious rushing offense for the Ravens.

Wilson and others said part of Peyton Place was Russell not wanting to renegotiate his contract. I am getting a feel for the no nonsense Nomad about first rounders!! I see now that you don't hate Herbert or Pickett you just believe that they are what their draft position is and that a fat contract is something they are responsible for!!
If you are some young punk and ask for a billion and they give it to you, right on!! In my book you can go full Aaron Rodgers!! Not even a full set of downs for your hype and contract cash!!

Raider Nation has a rumored early draft pick for Michael Penix. I think he'd look great in Black and Silver; might make me a Raider watcher. Long way from being a fan again but could be fun.
I don't see how this makes much sense, unless they view him as a project and he drops to round 2 and they sit him a year? The Raiders just signed Gardner Minshew, who has a lot of experience, to compete with Aiden O'Connell, who showed a lot of improvement at the end of last season. It seems to me these two are the direction the Raiders are going. Either O'Connell will continue to improve and win the job over the next 1-2 years, or he won't and Minshew will be the bridge until they find their next QB. It makes little sense to draft Penix. If they did, and kept all three, then one goes to the practice squad and is the emergency QB. Which guy? O'Connell after closing out the end of the season strong as the starter, throwing 9 TDs to 0 INT's during that time? They're going to send him to third string? Or are they going to trade O'Connell? It doesn't add up. I think if the Raiders are going to dump O'Connell and move forward, they would make a blockbuster trade leading to the draft and go after Jayden Daniels. That pick makes much more sense to me.

As exciting as Penix could be, I'd be very concerned about him making it through an 17-18 game schedule in the NFL with all of his past injuries.

I'd actually like to see Gardner get his shot. He's durable and perfect for the Raider image.
As for Penix frailties; the word after much medical review around the combines is he's in great shape. That doesn't mean he should run much so that's a consideration. He can run but it's the hitting and falling part he hasn't managed well.
