After losing the SB to the Chiefs, then an average 2023 season where they were beat in the WC round by the Buccaneers, quite a few experts concluded defenses had figured him out, and he was just average. He's still not really mentioned in the same breath as the top QBs though (Mahomes, Lamar, Allen, Burrow), but maybe he should be?

In that 2023 season, the Eagles still won 11 games & made the playoffs. Hurts had career high passing yardage that year & tied his career high rushing TDs with 15. But it doesn't matter because the following year he's a SB winning MVP QB. And the key there is "MVP." Remember the Chiefs shut down Barkley like there's no tomorrow & Hurts singlehandly beats them with his arm & feet.

IMO, he's not in the same breath as the Gunslinger...but who is? Lol. Mahomes in just 7 seasons as a fulltime time starter is 89-23 (80%) with 7 division titles, 17-4 (81%) in the postseason & 3xSB MVP (and a career passer rating of 102.1). Mahomes could retire tomorrow & arguably he's a top-5 all-time great.

I think Hurts is definitely in the same breath as LJ, Allen & Burrow (again, just my opinion & I'm sure I'll get some pushback). Furthermore, I have him as the #1 dual-threat QB having won a SB MVP (Cam Newton has been the only other dual-threat that's made it to the SB).

Unworldly is a good term. But I agree he has to get over the hump and get his team to a SB, and preferably win it.

My mistake. Kap is definitely a dual-threat. In fact, I didn't realize Kap holds two NFL records:

Rushing yards by a QB in a game: 181

Rushing yards by a QB in a postseason: 264

Both were set during the 2013 season. The 181 was set in that playoff game shootout against the Packers were he was literally a one-man wrecking crew running for 181 & 2 scores, throwing for 263 & 2 more scores for a mindblowing 444 yds of total O beating the Pack 45-31.

No doubt he was good. Without those injuries & non-football related issues, no telling what he could have accomplished.

Cousins sounds pretty ticked off about it - can he ask to be traded? When you have a disgruntled veteran backing up your young franchise guy, that's usually a situation many teams don't want to deal with.

Cousins should know the nature of the business by now. Because of his age & now the Achilles injury, teams are uncertain of his playing ability. And he imploded at the end of last season confirming the suspicions surrounding his ability to perform & win. He was so bad over a 5 game stretch that Morris had absolutely no choice in benching him in favor of MPJ.

Same situation with Wilson. The Giants don't believe that Wilson is their franchise QB or they wouldn't have traded up to take Dart at #25. The Giants are hinging everything on Dart to be the next Eli Manning & return the team to the SB glory years. Wilson will probably get the starting spot, but it's matter of time before Daboll makes the change. And it could come sooner than later depending on how Wilson performs & whether or not the team is winning.

Daboll and McDaniel will be two of the first two coaches canned if they can't turn it around. Surprised Daboll has lasted this long considering how awful the Giants have been . The drafting of Daniel Jones was a mistake and letting Barkley go, were terrible decisions for the team but they did well for Barkley getting him to a team where he could be effective plus he finally had a healthy season.

Keep in mind Drabol absolutely did not want to lose Barkley. The decision likely came from the owner(s) due to cash, if reports/guesses are correct. In NY, Wilson (and Winston for that matter) are only keeping the ball warm for Dart, until Drabol believes Dart is ready, or is in fear of losing his job and hopes Dart can jump in and save them all if they are playing bad as a team.

Personally, I think McDaniel is being set up to fail in Miami. Presuming he is canned after/during a disappointing season, he will be a prize OC for any team looking to get one.

As to Cousins, $180m buys a lot of therapy.

As to Goff's list. He has both Rivers and Eli Manning on there, which to me is ridiculous. I would not only add Mahomes, I'd add Marino, replacing those two. He also has Big Ben on there, and he just had too many late season or playoff collapses. If it weren't for the one heroic drive and throw to beat the Cardinals, I'd really question his career. The SB win over Seattle was a joke. I'd replace him with either Johnny Unitas, or maybe Otto Graham, if you want to go back to old timers who sort of were the guys who changed the passing game to what we see today.

I think both the Lions and Chiefs will be slightly different teams than last season in that I think Detroit's defense will be better, but it's offense not as good. And the opposite for KC. I think their offense will improve, but their D will take a step back. Still, I'd be surprised if both aren't quite good. KC should again win that competitive division and make a deep playoff run. If some expert picks them to win the SB, that wouldn't be an unwise pick at all.

Agree that Marino was another oversight by Goff.
