Texans could surprise. I can see them advancing to the SB, if their offense does ok.

Seattle should pull Darnold. Don't risk anything. Should pull most their starters. This game is beyond over. If it were a fight it would be stopped by now.

I came away more impressed with Purdy than other games i've seen him in--his escapability and wits under pressure are impressive. So often in the past I've seen him operating from a clean pocket after play action. Perhaps they really knew what they had when they signed him to that contract.

I agree. Unfortunately, they thought there was some point to him getting the major stat: 458 yds (or so) running to escape the Seahawks defense.
This game started with SF hubris by a free kickoff to the most dangerous returner in the game and went South to the Bay after that.
I was off on concerns about Darnold; he didn't panic and passed well under pressure. Stat geeks will say " well they didn't have hardly any passing yardage and the rushing yards were anemic compared to all the AFC games. That happens when your defense hands you the ball on your own 40 yard line because the Egos driving SF coaching went for 4th and 2 constantly to recover from their horrendous first quarter. This was a coaching loss by SF to start with and they should apologize to their talented and dedicated players.
Seattle was rested and will be rested. Whomever they play next the Seahawks don't have any excuses about freshness but that was the plan, wasn't it? Very well done.

Nix broke his ankle on their last offensive play apparently. What a way to go out. But yep, he's done. Back next season at some point. It's the Jarett Stidham show for Denver.
Tonight's game was flat out cruel. Over in the first 13 seconds, when Seattle was up 7-0. I can't imagine either the Bears or Rams are looking forward to going to Seattle, who looked like an absolutely juggernaut. And Darnold didn't even have a great game, just a decent one, mistake free. Seahawks OL and DL astounding. Just mauled SF in every phase of the game.
That Purdy number was crazy. Played his guts out.
If Chicago beats the Rams, all of the QBs left have never played in a Super Bowl. Houston is the only team left who has never even been. Not as the Texans, and not when the city had the Oilers (who made it as the Titans with Steve McNair).

Bills and Denver was an entertaining game. More heartbreak for Bills fans.Allen did good things but it was evened up by his bad plays. Cook had a big game. Overtime didn't surprise me and I thought the last two PI calls were correct. Nix getting hurt on the second last play was a bummer. Payton is talking up Stidham but then, he has to.
49ers had a horrible start and never recovered. They couldn't get out of their own way for the entire first quarter. Dropping good throws from Purdy just made it worse when they were already struggling with the Hawks defense. Shanahan looked like he was going to stroke out and he was ripping the corner, Green after the JSN TD. It was a matter of time before the 49ers B team found their limits and that was the game'. Their run defense was back to it's worst and it doesn't reflect too well on the last two teams the 49ers defeated, in the Bears and Eagles. The game felt over at 17-6 and was truly over at 24-6. Of the remaining teams I think the Rams possibly have the best shot at beating the Hawks but first they have to get past the Bears. I don't see Denver winning the SB with Stidham. See what tomorrow's games bring. Think Seattle is heading for another title.

Play selection when they were already in field goal range was super-risky on a tactical basis. Putting your QB at risk; not very bright either.

The only issue I have is this: Those were the only two PI calls the entire game. For all 4 quarters, and leading up to that in OT, the refs swallowed their whistles and held onto their flags, letting the players play, and waving off subtle PI (both teams, both sides of the ball), to then decide to be more strict with the rules, that's what has a lot of Bills fans, and Sean McDermott, upset.
But the fact also remains the Bills had several chances to win the game, and didn't.
In every way I can see Seattle going to and winning the SB, but their fans are also well aware of this: This win over SF could bloat their confidence. Also, virtually every game they've played against the Rams for the last decade has been a battle, if that's who they play. I'm sure they will be ready, but fans must know the history between these teams, dating back years.
I agree about the Seahawks potentially being too confident after this, but I also thought the game vs SF wouldn't be a blowout, maybe a game that was close going into the 4th and then Seattle pulling away. That said, they've been playing very well in the second half of the season, and really, for just about the entire season. The 3 losses they've had were close, could have gone either way. The Rams will certainly be a test, no doubt about that. But they have to get past the Bears first. The weather in Chicago is cold and it could play a major role. The Bears have been one of the biggest surprises this season. They've won 7 games in dramatic fashion, coming away with wins in the final 2 minutes, so they have to be confident, even being down in the 4th. I am not sold on the Rams easily beating the Bears, on the road. Also, the Seahawks have to take the Bears seriously, should they be their next opponent. The Seahawks have gotten back that home field advantage that has sometimes been lacking in the last few years. That's big for them.
And the AFC? Well, the Broncos won and lost that game yesterday. I am following the Texans Patriots game right now, and CJ Stroud has had one of the worst 1st half performances in a playoff game of all time. The fact that they are still 11 points down is a bit of a miracle. It shows you how good their defense is. 4 INT's, in only two quarters of play. That won't win you much, and yet it's only 21-10. Patriots should be favored to win this now, and without Nix next week, favored to move to the SB.

Looks like the Texans haven’t seen an offense like that all year and like was said, Patriots were a better overall team.The patriots haven't seen a defense like this all year. Have you seen what Anderson Jr & Hunter look like? A couple of jacked monsters with incredible quickness for their size. In fact, the Patriots haven't really played anybody this year with that cheesy schedule:

CJ and the team went from so few turnovers to turnovers over all the time in the playoffs. Waste of a defense this year. Two of CJ’s interceptions were bone headed decisions. Wouldn’t be surprised to see a qb change. Even more embarrassing for CJ is the way he spoke to Caleb a couple seasons ago and how the tables have turned for both qbs.
A great defensive game with both teams coming up big for their team. With Nix injured Patriots should win next week. If they do, Vrabel reaching the Super Bowl would put more egg on Belichick’s face considering he couldn’t get the team going anywhere and his successor was even worse AND the cherry on top being Vrabel ending Brady’s last season with the Patriots.
Almost 24 hours and barely anyone is talking about how dumb Allen and the Bills were for that fumble before the half while bringing up other issues. You wouldn’t see a well coached team or a quarterback like Mahomes, Brady, or Payton do something that stupid before the half. Allen is just the Phillip Rivers to the other 3 AFC superstars. Nothing the Bills have done has worked and most likely will have a new head coach.
Patriots were good enough today to advance. Not a pretty game but they were the more attractive date at the Dance.
Now, on to cold, snowy Chicago and a chance to see how well everyone holds up in serious weather!
Right, I didn't see the entire game. The other incident where the Bills player made the catch and had the ball stripped on the ground after he seemingly had control of it was more problematic. The ref seemed to be saying he never held the ball long enough. That one got the coach riled up.
As for the NFC West it seems to be a three way war every year now while the Cardinals who drew the short straw it seems, show up for fourth place, at least recently anyway. There have been some classic games in that division. This season three of them made the playoffs that just shows how tough it is to win the division let alone the SB.

Terrible game by CJ, but also the entire Texan offense. Their acclaimed defense also gave up plays in the red zone, including 4 TDs, in bad weather. Also outcoached.
