Stidham played excellent, probably in the outer limits of his abilities, Drake Maye played sub par, flat for most of the game far below his average play throughout the year, lots of poor decisions by Denver and New England just kept grinding at it. Both teams were decent, could have gone either way.
Seattle offensive line playing really good

Offense as a whole is perhaps the best it's looked all year.

Oh boy here we go!! Brady and Belichick rematch number 4 this time against Wilson and the Legion of Boom. They have to be hoping this game goes like the Rams rematch and not Giants or Eagles.

On a serious note Kraft ties Brady for most Super Bowl appearances. Undeniably the best owner of all time making it with 3 different head coaches and quarterbacks. Huge game in 2 weeks for Vrabel to summit himself as one of the best coaches. Belichick has to be rooting for Seahawks.

Like was said, Seahawks were the better overall team. Massive retribution for Darnold. Rams kept it close but Seahawks were far superior with the dumb defensive penalty keeping Rams in the game.

Both teams making it have been the most consistent teams at all levels throughout the year. This will be a fun game but I think Seahawks are slightly better overall while Patriots have the better coach.

Mr. Woolen should watch clips of DK Metcalf's costly taunting penalties. DK is in a city, not playing for any other games for a reason and Woolen is more dispensable; although a great all around player.

Sam got to exorcise all of those demons the media has laid on him and probably cost the part of Minnesota that could sleep tonight what little rest they desperately need. He was superior to LA's offense and made the long passes he needed to connect in sparkling fashion. The happiest score was to Jake Bobo; Seattle's Special Teams exceedingly reliable and likeable workhorse.
As for the SB matchup; both NE and SEA have had a great season. Evaluating Seattle's path they had to beat the two next best teams in the league several times in 2 weeks to get here. Like most fans I relish the prospect of Rob Gronkowski and Robert Kraft getting what they deserved the first go-around. They still probably burn candles to Pete Carrol's choice not to give the ball to Marshawn. IMO that won't happen again.

Good game in Seattle as expected. Darnold played well. Special teams will have to be fixed for the Rams, has cost them all season. Smith will probably be cut if he can't catch. Stupid penalties in the second half didn't help the Rams including the taunting brain explosion in front of the Rams bench. Didn't expect so many points to be scored. The Rams offense understandably gave the Hawks more trouble than the 49ers less talented one. Rams were also able to get to Darnold but it didn't matter overall.
Be interested to see how the Patriots rush does against Seattle. Maye is going to have a tougher job in the SB re his scrambling but it looks like an interesting match up with two good coaches. Both teams can run the ball usually. Patriots will have to limit the big plays to JSN.

You missed the game?!?!? Oh boy! Hopefully you had something like a hot date. 😉

I agree with the others, that second game was exciting, but for most of the game Seattle was the better team. Darnold really silenced his critics. Though he faced pressure, and took a few sacks, he also played very well when it mattered, pressure or no pressure, with some terrific clutch throws. I also agree with Nomad that Maye's future looks incredibly bright for the Patriots.

Both the Seahawks and Patriots have been very consistent, very well coached all year and the game should be good. Both teams are going to likely struggle to move the ball at times, which should prevent a blowout. I do have a prediction for the very end of the game:

"2nd and goal from the two. Seattle needs a TD to seal the win. Darnold drops back to pass! Wait! It's a draw to Walker..."

I enjoyed both games. It was bound to happen for second string quarterback would be a little bit slow to find his rhythm if he was ever going to, but tens of millions of people including Denver coaching staff knew that. Denver coaching staff also knew that cold temps and poor conditions are also a thing in New England. As I complain about weekly, score when you can! Denver staff did Sidham no favors. Either way guy played respectable, didn't get blown out.
Everyone agrees that Rams have issues on special teams, but a guy losing his footing in one game, on one specific return is not something that a coach is going to fix. Or here ...I will coach the guy, don't trip backwards when you are catching the ball, there that problem is fixed
It should be a good Super Bowl.

Darnold's "legacy", hung on him by East Coast sportcasters is still alive. On ESPN's First Take you only have to look at Stephen A's entire demeanor and then hear his deflection about past criticism. He's dressed entirely in black and moped through the entire broadcast. In a later edition he quietly praised Darnold's play as more significant than Mike Vrabel's coaching in NE. He was most focused on criticizing the Pittsburgh hire for coach. He's never forgiven Mike McCarthy's tenure in Dallas, I guess.
All the while their spin is: the astounding NE Patriots and their long legacy. It's really tough for them to admit that football exists anywhere other than the SEC or the East Coast.

As for Riq Woolen; Seattle fans are very forgiving. IMO his self-aggrandizement will still be a problem wherever he plays. My wife noted that he appeared to apologize to Sean McVay/Rams after the game ended. She thought that was nice.
His current contract ends after the SB. Of course he attempted to walk back his behavior as the Rams could definitely use his services and Seattle likely, or should cut him loose. Rewarding him with a fat free-agent contract won't fix it.

Minnesotans definitely did not need any additional pain this weekend :(. And when they let Darnold go last year it didn’t appear as bad of a decision as it does now. Consider the fact that some Seattle commentators didn’t think he would be an upgrade from Geno!

Did the City of Seattle set off the air raid sirens? Lol. Missed the game but I'm seeing 76 passes, 720 yds & 6 scores between Stafford & Darnold. Talk about an "Air Coryell" type game.
Stafford’s throws and Nacua’s catches were brilliant throughout. Not many other combo (if any) could duplicate that. Speaking of which, amid all the offensive fireworks the incredible game Nick Emmanwori played will get lost a bit. He defected passes on 3 consecutive plays on the Rams 2nd to last possession that was a key point in the game.

That stumbling returner also badly botched and fumbled another punt earlier in the game and was incredibly lucky it bounced back to him. The Rams changed punt returner after that. With special teams it’s hard to know what part is the speciality coach and what part is talent. For example, should Seattle’s special teams coach (who does seem good) get extra credit because the ownership went and picked up Shaheed?

Likely true. Though management made a great decision keeping him on instead of trading him at the deadline as most folks expected to happen. He was big in the games where Seattle’s secondary was hurting.

After the game both Woolen and Emmanwori were very supportive of each other, saying it was part of brotherhood to hold each other accountable on the sideline. MacDonald later noted Woolen played excellent after giving up that immediate TD.

Winning does that, of course.

Rams fired their STC at Christmas. McVey implying he had no choice. Well, that obviously didn't work. Not as bad as the Raiders firing Chip Kelly, making him out as the scapegoat, only to have their offense actually get even worse. But still, this didn't look good for McVay. If you watch the replay Dickson's kick was booming, 50+ yards, and way high, which I'm sure made it harder to catch, but still, that was a bad blunder, one people will remember.

Losing does that, of course.

Another Seahawk who had a clutch game was Cooper Kupp. At least in the second half. The fact the Rams wrote him off two years ago I'm sure motivated him. Though he was talking with Stafford and Nacua after the game. Winning...

Stephen Smith is not an idiot, but sure can act like one. Someone should look up the ESPN reporter who said the Seahawks were making a huge mistake signing Darnold, and Geno Smith was way better.

My guess is this is what is going on behind the scenes: He doesn't want the Cardinals HC job. He already removed himself from consideration for the Bills, or Browns (no brainer) HC job. This left the Raiders job. I'm speculating right now the Raiders are writing up paperwork to hire Seattle OC Klint Kubiak as their HC, and McDaniel (or his agent) either got wind of this, or strongly speculated it, so he went ahead and inked the deal he had on the table with the Chargers.

The other big advantage here is if the Chargers do well next year, he will be first in line when a slew of coaches get fired a year from now. If he only does so-so, the Chargers lose in the playoffs, or Herbert chokes again, all the blame won't fall on him. It will still fall on Harbaugh, and Herbert. He can wipe his hands fairly easily and likely still get another HC job, if not the first on everyone's list.

If Woolen's act had resulted in a loss the cost, per player in NFC win and SB losers share =$184,000 per player.
Add $78,000/player for SB win, plus any contract bonuses and Woolen's ego was worth between $10,120,000 to $14,245,000 for 55 player roster. Most former teammates would remember that if they faced him further down the road.
When we talk about pressure in the SB against the Pats and Wunderkind Drake; Riq Woolen is now on the hottest seat of his life. He cannot f*c*up again or his free agent salary will take a huge hit as well as those delivered by the aforementioned former teammates. Ya' gotta back up your talk or pay the price.

And add this to personal and team motivation:

Mike Silver of The Athletic wrote a new story Monday after the Seahawks’ win over the Rams on Sunday night, detailing how things spiraled between the Rams and Kupp last year. According to Silver, the Rams were “urging him to retire” after his release. And when he was a free agent, Kupp “came to believe” that the Rams warned other teams about paying him more than the veteran minimum.

After the 2024 season, rather than trying to negotiate a salary reduction with the former All-Pro, the Rams had unceremoniously cut ties, urging him to retire. As Kupp approached free agency, sources say, he came to believe that some L.A. officials had cautioned potential suitors against paying him anything more than the veteran minimum, suggesting that age and an accumulation of injuries had provoked a steep decline.
“When it ended with the Rams,” Kupp told me earlier this month, “we weren’t in a good place.”
The Seahawks paid Kupp a pretty penny to bring him back to the Pacific Northwest, giving him $45 million for three years. That was after “some potential suitors expressed doubts about signing him because of what they’d heard in league circles — which his camp believed came from the Rams.”

Silver added that after Kupp was cut, "the most powerful people in the Rams' organization" didn't call to thank him for his contributions, which didn't sit well with him.

Kupp happily landed with the Seahawks, heading back home to Washington where he grew up and went to college. And now, it’s his team heading to the Super Bowl instead of the Rams.

yes, it's pretty stark when you put it that way. To be honest though, l didn't even know you get a taunting the entire opposing sideline--I thought it was just when done to individual player(s). Of course, he should have known the rule.

That's super interesting. Especially when seeing that former Rams teammates of his were lined up (literally) to greet him after the game, and Stafford was looking all over the field afterwards to find him and give him a hug.
