Thomas fastest in the world over 1km, but kennaugh is fast over a dash..

down to 500m to go so who knows.. its like a track sprint.. Kennaugh been forced on the front for about 1k now.. Gee will not let him fall behind, just sat on his wheel.. 200m to go

Sky are taking the British Champions Jersey to the tour de france.. First time in 18 years, since Sean Yates in 92. I could not be happier

That poor child's gonna kill himself.

2nd, 3rd, 2nd.

He may not bother again. after that.

Two years ago he was hunting down the big fella at the finish, Hayles, last year he messed up the sprint, this year his &*^(ing team mate. Great try and well done To Tom'n'Jerry.

in a very strange twist, the podium girls look like they are wearing german football kits, bad move by the organisers, white t shirts with black shirts is not a good look.

Impressive win by Thor, Hagen had no chance to follow him in this hilly course. Thor looked in great shape. More concerned about Hagen, looked weak today.

No surprise in Luxembourg:

1) Fränk Schleck

2) Andy Schleck

3) Ben Gastauer (AG2R)

Too bad, was used to seeing Andy in the red, white and blue, now I'll be confused throughout the tour :p

Nicki Sorensen wins Danish championship over Lars Bak from HTC, so that jersey's going to the tour as well...

It's all part of the plan - Andy will attack, Contador will think "No worries, it's just Fränk" and won't follow ... :D

Andy's probably going to be in white pretty early anyway. Would that confuse you as well?

Thomas, Kennagh, Stannard battered everybody... awsome show by them.
the domestic riders got put in their place and didnt put up a fight apart from Richardson of Sigma sport. he looks a great talent if he gets more protour miles in his legs.

as for the rest- one of the leading groups was over 15 minutes down!

He'll be in white later rather than sooner... it'll probably be on EBH's or Kreuziger's shoulders for the first week.

Great to see Hushovd finally coming into form. With Boonen and Haussler out and Rabo putting all its eggs in the GC basket, the green jersey battle was looking like an all Cav/Farrar affair. :(

Spain RR results:
1. Jose Ivan Gutierrez (Caisse d'Epargne)
2. Fran Ventoso +24" (NGC Carmiooro)
3. Koldo Fernandez de Larrea +24" (Euskaltel)

Impressed to hear that Ventoso has raced with no teammates.

Last year Rubén Plaza raced with no teammates, and won. The course was a very hilly one in Torrelavega last year though, so the course was more selective.

Today was flat but windy and there have been echelons. The first group had no more than 15 riders, including 4 from Caisse and 3 from Euskaltel. With less than 20kms to go Barredo attacked and Gutierrez went sucking Barredo's wheel following team orders. When Barredo gave up Gutierrez has attacked and has managed to stay ahead of the chasing group led by the Euskaltel boys.

+1. Wouldn't be surprised to see Richardson speak to Sky for next season after that race.

I was extremely impressed by Kennaugh. I sat on the hill for a few laps and he looked so comfortable up there. Strongest rider on the day, even G admitted he (G) rode "like a [expletive]" and sat on him on the last lap to help beat him. Hard to believe PK is only 21.

The course was too tough IMO though. Fine as a finishing circuit for 2-3 laps, but 15 times over that hill meant there wasn't really a race to watch, it was pretty much decided from Lap 1. The only question then was which of PK and G would get it.
