New helmet Helium vs. Genesis

Recently I broke my helmet in a crash and am now in need of a new one. I plan to get either the Lazer helium or Genesis. Does anybody have experience with both?

I've researched both online and found that the Helium is lighter, has slightly larger vents, a different buckle system, and a carbon pattern (which I like the looks of); but the genesis is less expensive and would leave me more money to replace my front wheel and get other parts of my bike fixed up.

Does the lower price of the Genesis outweight the above features of the Helium or would it be worth it to pay a little more and get those features?

Thanks in advance.

Doesn't the broken helmet manufacturer have a crash replace program?

Giro offers 30 percent off a new helmet and I can get the same make and model as the one I cracked. But I'd rather just get a new helmet form my local bike shop, plus I will get a discount for being on the shops team anyways.

I like your choice of not re-buying a Giro.

Don't support the conspiracy.

The last helmet I bought was when I was in full-on weight weanie mode. The LBS had heliums in stock and I think it was listed online at something like 290 grams, scale said 350 or so. Don't believe what the manufacturer says, you can save yourself a couple hundred bucks for a different brand of the same weight.

I think that's "yarmulka". Probably a better fit on the sabbath (Saturday)...

I wore the Lazer Blade for a number of years and really liked it. Then 2 years ago got the GENESIS, mostly because I needed a change. I actually liked the feel of the heavier Blade because I felt like I had more protection, the G being so light. Another thing I like about the Lazer is NOT Giro, NOT Bell. Both have always fit very well. Lazer came out with a sunglass system that attaches to your helmet strap, which I am going to try.
