Or maybe its black without any particular profundity because it's a background colour that makes the sponsor names/logos stand out clearly, and is not overused in the women's peloton, with a blue and red halo light a splash of the sponsors' branding colours placed at heart level front and centre of the jersey like the main sponsors' names embodying the team’s passion, unity and determination because that is where they are most obvious in a podium photo.

i was thinking why cant they just say its black because actually it looks pretty cool, or sick as the young folk say, and as you said stands out among the sea of pinky/orange.
