Seeing that portable VO2 mask in GCN video (of yesterday, ep. 174) one can vividly picture Vroom completing his alien look wearing this doing uphill 200 rpm seated attacks on Ventoux... riding to powermax, riding to VO2 max.

Time for a special thread on new marginal gains ideas, perhaps. Do you have some?

why come up with new ones if you can just recycle old ones?

Two weeks later LeMond showed up in tennis shoes. “I ended up getting second place."

"[Chris] turned up in his sandshoes and he performed really well," recalled Brailsford.

Just buy the Lance books, on special in the discount holder at the local bookshop. Regurgitate. They haven't to my knowledge done the full "he reconned all the stages 3 times over before Tour. Although I think Wiggins used that one.

.in his speech on off the ball (the one where he refused to discuss the issue with kimmage or tucker cos he knew they would punch through his bs) Walsh tells in amazement about how sky studied the parcors before the race and used this revolutionary idea to plan an attack on the first mtf. True genius.

LeMond_DellaSanta_PAVED.jpg

I see he's wearing his Della Santa shirt in that pic. Della Santa is a custom frame builder of long repute in NorCal. Classic Italian racing geometry. There used to be a shop, recently closed, alas, in San Francisco that would measure you for and sell you a Della Santa. Its owner, Len, was a master wheel builder, and knew more about racing bikes, and racing fit, than probably anybody else in town. He didn't suffer fools easily, though, so not everyone had a good time when visiting his tiny shop. Too bad its gone, it was great.

We now return you to your regular programming.

In the future, perhaps, a vast body of research will permit us to devise a metric for the benefits of a horrible boss. Given that so many people have at one time or another worked for one, this would certainly seem to be the next lucrative step for the marginal gains
So that's why they had Sutton on as staff   :D

Plausible cover story with paperwork for events where plausible deniability cannot exonerate the management.

That you would compare the two situations boggles the mind.

One guy winning every race he entered from the first days he was riding a bike, the other with some verifiably made-up story about sand shoes (whatever those are) who won nothing until an amazing transformation later in his career.

that you would interpret that as a dig at Lemond rather than at Froome boggles the mind.
or actually, coming from you, it doesnt really.
