That you would compare the two situations boggles the mind.

One guy winning every race he entered from the first days he was riding a bike, the other with some verifiably made-up story about sand shoes (whatever those are) who won nothing until an amazing transformation later in his career.

The new marginal gain is not offering your rider aero kit for the world championships, then making her sew a Sky logo cut out of another jersey onto her own skinsuit to keep the sponsors happy. The Sky logo is the crucial marginal gain that makes anything it's attached to go faster.
