The question is kind on nonsense. Firstly Froome and Contador weren't on the same level so it's quite possible he's stronger than one and weaker than the other.

People worshiping Contador and Froome because of their ability at one of the many disciplines within the sport (climbing) and saying that another rider isn't on the same 'level' of them overall is kind of silly. I'd rather ask whether either Froome or Contador were on the same level as Nibali when it comes to bike handling, descending, positioning, ability to read the race, ability to navigate the cobbles, panache, ability to deal with hard weather conditions, etc and I'd have to say no they are not.

So in one respect ( for some reason the only one people on this forum to care about, climbing) maybe he was not quite as strong but in lots of other respects Nibali was stronger.

yeah,Im sure Nibali would avoid that pothole with one hand on handlebars at 70kph in bunch of 50 riders:eek:

Italian who supports Contador over Nibali, how crazy is that?
:D
(if im not mistaken you are from italia)

Very good question,I agree with you,but dont think it would have been big difference, couple of seconds probably.

No, mine is just an honest assessment of how I see things. If I were prejudiced, then I would be unreasonably supporting Nibali.

Though I have every reason to be. As I got to ride with Nibali in the Granfondo Valerio Agnoli at Fiuggi last year just before the Giro, because I was in the front group that made the splits after the first climbs, when the Sicilian and his best friend/teammate joined along during the 135k event.

We were no more than 25 riders. A couple of the strong locals in our group were on conversational terms with Valerio, who is from Fiuggi, and who obviously used them as his local "sparing partners" in off-season training.

Nibali and Agnoli were doing an altitude session at Campo Catino above Fiuggi in their final preparations for the Giro. Consequently, Nibali was in full bloom and ready to assault, and eventually win, the Corsa Rosa.

A pure spectacle on two wheels, up close.

Now, having said that, I don't see him as AC's equal.

I'd say Contador is on the same level as Nibali wrt those aspects :)

Yea, could be construed as such. But honestly I just wanted to set the scene. Anyway, it's not my fault that I wasn't too shabby. :p

At any rate, I eventually got dropped and finished in a gruppetto of 3.

No, I think it's very cool and I like hearing stories like that.

Like Carols, who is a fan of both?

Red Rick as well I believe. And I as well like both. Nibali more so, and I don't really consider myself a Contador fanboy, but I like him.

How is it possible not to include in a poll , Nibali is better and I dont know ?

In sports you can judge only those who are competing, and Nibs is blowing everyone away . As he was doing to Froome and AC while they were in the TDF. AC gave his best shot and couldnt pull away from Nibs on the climb. He looked desparate and gained a few secs advantage(others say Nibs looked tired). Did Nibs miss a gear change? Doesnt matter, better then crashing, not handling his bike well. Its all part of racing.
AC's great year so far , means absolutely nothing. He was leading Dauphine after 7th stage, and Talansky crushed him on last stage and won. So what ! Not the TDF . Nibs is making everyone who beat him there look useless, Van d broek, Talansky, Bardet, Yates.
Nibs had a program to peak at the TDF, as did AC probably. It doesnt matter who does better before or after the TDF....only the TDF matters.
1 race matters and that is the TDF, Vuelta and Giro are secondary, and Froome and AC missed out. F1 you crash, you lose, no one remembers that. We only remember the winner. no asterisks nothing, asterisks are for doping in cycling, thats all.
Next year should be an interesting TDF if all competing plus the new exciting young cyclists. As for this year, if Nibs goes on to win....well he will be remembered for being the best this year.

My favorite american football team the Patriots, 16-0 playing in the SB against the Giants, a team they had beaten a few weeks before. and they lost in the SB. Giants were the champs...Patriots...2nd, that is how history is written. Best team..... Giants.

Just like many are talking about Quintana....who did he beat at the Giro? Oh that doesnt matter, Roland..almost 11 min behind already.

Anyway you can hand pick stats and such all you want, what matters is Nibs is crushing the TDF, whoulda shoulda is for losers. And if Nbs doest win,,,the same goes for him

Yes, most definitely +1 to this. Like I said in a previous thread. A rider in a GT shouldn't be judged by which of his competitors crashed out, but by their individual performances in the race. And Nibali's performances thus far have been fantastic.

Maybe Contador would have won, maybe Nibali would have surprised (again ;)) and beaten him. No one knows and it's no use dwelling on the past.

These two lines lets us know that you have no idea what you are talking about.

As to the last: look at the competion. He wouldn't be "crushing" AC and Froome if they were still in the race.

The only reason why this thread even exists is because both the Spaniard and the Briton are out. Herein lies the difference between the one and the others.

nobody knows jackshi* what is going to happen if AC stayed in the race. No one can predict the future (in this case, alternative reality), so please stop these "would" "could" insanity.
