I'm with Nibali in the war against robotic cycling. Ditch the radios and triathlon bikes as well.

He'll be on a Shiv tomorrow no doubt. So ghey you might as well put on a wifebeater and wear swimming trunks under your shorts...

How many technical descents are there in the tour? Sky will still dominate the mountain stages.
This is exactly why some of us want to ban power meters and team radios, reduce numbers of riders, etc. I do NOT want to see predictability (see today's T-A stage).

This was NOT a technical descent, this was just two guys and a little Spanish man [where did he come from? olala] with balls going GUNGHO in the rain. Just like the Sky rider that highsided in the descent at Paris Nice without the highsider of course...

Nothing to do with SRM, just cojones.

So Nibali is against SRM's? Hmmmm......

What's that little box on your bars Vincenzo?
And it's not like you've only just got one is it?

Looks like Nibbles is annoyed that Martinelli & the boys back in Kazakhstan won't stump up for the analysis of the data so he's stuffed. Grow a pair, Lo Squalo!

No reason to let others have an advantage. He obviously does not want them, but it is stupid not to use it when everyone is doing it (of course you know this, and just want to start a discussion ;))

So, ulti, u show us a bike of Canondale while Nibali rides on Specialized. Good find.

Thumbs up.

What does this have to do with Nibali being sick and tired of roboracing?

If you look at the pics as well as reading the post, you'll see that the first pic is Nibali today, while the second is his previous ride.

And, your point in this is what? He took of his chrono/SRM after a race in 2012?

You normally have much better arguments I must say.

And, to be fair, you do not have to worry on Nibali having to grow a pair, the little Sicilian is a maniac downhill. No SRM needed there.

My point is that Nibali is using an SRM this season, as he has in previous seasons.

His descending skills are, I agree, beyond question.

However I think his argument is flawed. SRMs and their use don't affect the pattern of racing anywhere near as much as he suggests, unless you have someone advising the rider on the analysis of the data. Remove the SRM & you still have, as evidenced by Garmin, remote control racing. Remove the radio and allow the SRM and the rider still has to decide what to do without outside influence.

The ban police? Race Radio, SRM and then heart-rate monitors, clipless pedals, deep section rims...The list could go on and on.

I think SRM gives you feedback that you have already, if experienced, but most riders would adapt back to knowing their general range of power output, if not in watts, anyway.

Not for it though as they fall into the same genre of heart-rate monitors.

If you've ever eaten with an athlete while they are training (and at Lougborough uni I got the chance to do it a fair few times) this basically happens in all sports anyway.

Removing SRMs wouldn't do anything, they'd just ride to heart rate and speed. Even removing these monitors wouldn't affect it that much, an athlete knows their own body.

As many people have said, Ryo the guy who comes to mind, smaller teams is probably the only way, at the moment, you can stop this type of riding.

Or, Saxo could get their own train sorted and then it comes down to who can attack from the furthest distance.

Also, as someone mentioned, have other teams caught up with Sky's training methods? Like actually training as t team and bothering to see what your riders are up to in between stages?

now that's the right question to ask

Not necessarily. They just assess a different set of skills.

In terms of racing, power meters assess a set of skills consisting of "knowing the decimal system" and "being able to see".

Yes skills in not being able to remember anything and to then chalk all that up as passé.

In terms of racing it’s the same damn thing. Nice results but hardly inspirational, or "intelligent."

i didn't have the impression they lost it in the descents when watching it.
cyclingnews says: "Froome also admitted he didn’t have the legs to go with him on the climb, insisting the descent was not a problem."
