He comes across as an amusing dude with a reasonable view of himself as a rider.

Yeah Nico's really down to earth w/ a great sense of humor and totally not aloof or dooooooooochéy. He comes across as the kinda guy who'd be fun to hang out w/ and shoot the sh*T.

Good job JP.Enjoyed.

Great! Thx. Glad you enjoyed it. Not sure who will be next - maybe Dan Martin so we can have a "Cousins War" lol.

I'm a stage hunter who thinks he is a GC rider.

Haha, spot on, Nico!

Tell me that bit of honest self-appraisal wasn't refreshing!

Nevermind..

If it's a good question, PM it to me and I'll see about getting you a personal response

Thanks again everyone, for supporting the idea of an interview, submitting questions, actually reading the interview and providing feedback.

I find it amazing that he'd prefer TdF podium than a monument. Very good interview, and Nico comes across as a decent skin. I'd love to see him make a strong break in a big classic. He's strong enough to stay with big names, and a good enough printer to have a shout of a win.

Hey good job! I liked it alot!

Thanks! Glad to have the feedback. My collaborator Felix Lowe has a sharp wit, and I think I can bring a unique perspective to the process in that I have good insight into what the rider will talk about from my own career, know how to actually ask the questions + keep the interview alive (& then write it up of course) but I'm also an über-fan of cycling (who's still a cyclist) so I'm more willing to ask niche questions like about the training volume + schedule. And also opening it up to fan-input really helps.

I was surprised by this answer, too, but really happy he was willing to be honest about it. There's another great (reader) question that didn't make the final cut but will be in the outtakes, about who he'd rather be:

"If forced to choose, would you rather be known as a stereotypical talented but lazy French rider or a hard-working but less-than-talented Irish rider?"

lol...he's a good sport.

Thanks for that.

Nico is a good lad. Hope his season picks up. "I also collect shoes — I'm addicted" - well that is a first
