She also didn't thank Jesus

Well she mentioned how upset she was with the men's side of the sport, however she didn't say 'oh but its much better now with what Brad, Dave and Team Sky are doing etc.

Here is what she said about Wiggins and Cavendish

I know Brad Wiggins and Mark Cavendish who have followed me onto the continent have rightly had lots of publicity for their successes and that has done an awful lot for the participation in cycling of both sexes.

You really don't see a roll for doctors in sports, at all, do you?
You are right: words fail me at this juncture.

Cooke attributes her gold medal to the cooperation with Bartolucci.
So how does a doctor make that kind of difference?

I agree you won't win anything if you don't have a doctor, but how does he make the difference in a field where everybody has a doctor?

.

Spot on.

I despise the way some members of the clinic can turn against such as Nicole Cooke with no evidence at all.

To me she is still one of the most exciting riders I have ever watched.
Chapeau!

I hadn't read the article just what she had, said on TV.

Maybe you should read it, then come back and comment. There's a link to it at the start of the thread. Read it all and it will give much greater insight into her and the sport she's talking about, rather than the soundbites you have heard on TV

Meh.

Sport doesn't owe anyone a living.

Back to lurking

Couldn't agree more. I have absolutely no time for anyone who complains that they don't get paid enough to play a game. Get a job like the rest of us, FFS. (BTW, this isn't directed at Nicole - who is awesome)

In 2007 she had a knee injury which nearly ended her career. In what you must seem as a suspicious solution she turned to doctors to fix it, rehabilitate it, and to prevent reoccurance.

I suppose when you have an injury you visit a plumber do you?

time should confirm whether it is truth.

if she is in fact lying the hypocrisy is bound to rile those who know and it will come out.

however, if in 20 years no one has come forward (like with lemond), then i would wager she is what she says she is.

That really led to Armstrong's downfall didn't it!

I am glad you are prepared to wait 20 years. It only 15 for Wonderboy.

Can you explain why Cooke has not won anything of note since her Olympic gold.

It is my understanding that her 'medical' relationship ended with Bartolucci the following year.

If there's dirt on Nicole Cooke then Lizzie Armitstead will dish it. No love lost there.

Which brings us back, not surprisingly, to they all must be cheating.
I'm getting off this roundabout, now.

The omerta is as strong in women's as it is in men's pro cycling. No one ratted Longo out after all these years.

It seems suspicious that she had a bad injury in 2007 but still managed to win Olympic Gold a year later. There is only one way this could be achieved and we all know how. She's beginning to look like the female Lance!

If Nicole Cooke built a career on doping she must have started injecting as a kid. Her palmarès seems to suggest one of those super-talents that comes along once in a generation - similar to Lemond

I'm pretty sure they have full knowledge of each other's doping practices, and are on the same programmes. ;)

Does anyone know if Lizzie has ever had any contact with a doctor?

Her team folded in 2009 and she didn't have one for 2010. And then there's Marianne Vos.

If Bartolucci is some game changing doping magician, how did Cooke win two World Cups, two Grande Boucles, a Giro Donne, three Fleches, Thuringer Rundfart, RVV and be ranked World no.1 etc before she'd even met him?
