Yeah, but it's hard to compare sprint and relay medals to distance race medals.
Klaebo now has more medals than someone like Cologna, but winning the individual start 3 Olympics in a row is clearly more impressive.

True, between Klæbo's 7 olympic medals or Cologna's 4, I prefer the Swiss set of medals because he has 4 individual golds against only 2 from Klæbo but my post was more to ilustrate that both him and Bolshunov have been close to each other in the medal count this Olympics, continuing to grow their rivalry.

Tbf Klaebo is only 25. He definitely has another Olympics if not 2 in him so fair chance he ends up with over 10 medals. Its a vast difference then.

On today's races, Valnes was a lot stronger than I thought so that was good to see, and nice to see Finland take the silver. Eurosport commentary kept on calling Carl as Sauerbrey which was pretty ridiculous. Its a long enough race and with a semi final for that. They don't even look alike.

Shame for Roiseland in the biathlon, was hoping she'd medal there but Eckhoff let the team down again. Tandrevold was a miss too but Lien and Knotten did well there. Also shame for Cadurisch. Looked worse than the Tandrevold incident so hopefully she's ok.

On that I agree. I would even say that he still has a reasonable chance of reaching the 8 golds medals to equal his compatriots so 10 olympic medals should be quite likely.

Riiber out of the nordic combined team event opens up the field. Might be another thrilling finish.

Klæbo will be determined to beat Bjørn Dæhlies 8. I am sure he has thought about it by himself, but if he hasn't he will be constantly reminded by everyone around him. Dæhli only had 3 when he was Kæbos age.

IMHO, Klæbo seems to be another (smarter) type than Bjorgen, Bjoerndalen and Dahlie. Hoarding medals in repeating championships is kind of pathetic, isn't it? Look at van Poel. He has reached his goals, time to move on.

I doubt that is enough to change the lineup 1 hour before a relay. I thought you would need a doctor stating you are sick or injured and thus unfit to race.
yeah, on German TV Behle also said that it needs a doctor's certificate, and as former national coach, he probably should know. But no idea what exactly this means. If the German team doctor is in charge of that, it's probably not too much of an issue.

I also wondered if it was the real reason, btw, or if they just realized that with Carl's superiour sprint there's a better chance to compete for the medals. Don't think I've ever seen Sauerbrey sprinting, but best she probably could have achieved would have been battling Parmakoski, I guess?!

I feel sad for Riiber though. Literally dominating the 4 seasons before the Olympics and he will end up without a single medal thanks to a mild (not sure if he had any symptoms though) illness.

P.s. Without Riiber I'd be surprised if Norway gets more than a bronze. They got in-form Graabak, inconsistent Oftebro, slow and not as reliable on the hill, as few years ago Bjoernstad and not top level Andersen.
Clear advantage for Austria and maybe Germany.

What a shame. I wonder how much is physical and how much psychological after his error?
Norways relay woes continue.

he did. "Bad symptoms for a couple days", he said himself.

So he ends up without a medal because the Norwegians gambled and paid for it. If he had saved himself for today, he'd probably still finish the games with a (gold) medal.

Well, he said that already before the error he felt like he didn't have any power. Obviously it wasn't mentally good for him to make that mistake, and if he had somehow managed to win the gold I guess he would have raced today even if he felt like crap physically. Not sure he could have won the gold anyway though.

12 seconds between Austria, Norway, Germany and Japan. Don't remember it ever being that close. France 87 seconds back, looks like the medals are 3 from 4.

Austria with an aggressive approach, trying to get a gap with Lampaerter in the 2nd leg. Will be interesting to see how it works out.

They really should work together to get rid of Japan with their weakest athlete on this leg.

Norway should do nothing other than aim to hand over right on the German's tail.
Edit, nvm, Frenzel looks cooked.
