I mean, the debate last year that doing Vasaloppet would have been harmful for him because of hi young age was obviously BS, but Ski Classics specific training and all those races is clearly not the best way to develop the overall skills of a young talent. Not the smartest idea to have a teenager doing ski classics all season and keep skipping junior races. Good chance he burns out.

Oh yeah, doing that at such a young age all season long is clearly not beneficial when it comrles to develop him into a well rounded skier.Obviously, Myhlback is a super talent, but his racing schedule and, consequently, the training program to compete in those races, continues to baffle me.
Sometimes I actually wonder what the team and trainers envision for Myhlback's future. If the goal is to develop him into a well-rounded skier with a long career, this seems like such a strange way to try to accomplish that. But I guess we'll see.Oh yeah, doing that at such a young age all season long is clearly not beneficial when it comrles to develop him into a well rounded skier.
A bit more to add to this, as Slovene junior Lena Repinc won L'Étape Slovenia a couple of weeks ago. It's even more impressive when you realise that it's a pretty solid parcours especially considering what women's pros get to so, and Repinc hadn't in fact trained for it; instead one of her friends who was doing the event with his girlfriend asked her on short notice to fill in as his girlfriend had had to withdraw due to illness and she agreed; although they had tried to process the change this was not able to be done in time so Repinc entered using the other person's details thinking it would not be a problem since she was just entering ad hoc, so after she won the race and explained what had happened to the organisers she had to be removed from the results after the finish.Since this is a cycling forum, some news about Winter Sport athetes in big cycling granfondos recently:
Best girl Lisa Vittozzi finished 4th in the short version of the Maratona dles Dolomites. Meanwhile Austrian Nordic Combined Start Lamparter raced the Ötztaler and finished 71., after being in the front group for most of the race. Austrian Ski Jumping legend Goldberger also raced the Ötztaler, but the guy also did lots of MTB upill races last Summer and even started the Crocodile Trophy before crashing out of the race. Probably still good enough to make Roglic his whipping boy.![]()
Getting an early start on the Diggins sh*t I see. Trolls gotta stay sharp.A bit more to add to this, as Slovene junior Lena Repinc won L'Étape Slovenia a couple of weeks ago. Now, Lena is hardly a rank amateur when it comes to cycling though, on the IBU's profile of her there's a picture of her atop the Passo Pordoi on her bike (sadly for me, in this same interview she also professes her fandom for Jessica Diggins which is greatly upsetting); she's shown in the youth and junior (and at the European Championships among seniors as a 17-year-old; she's now 20) to be a crazy strong natural talent in biathlon. But competing for a smaller team with a lesser budget she's likely to hit against the development constraints that often hit young prospects that aren't from the biggest nations. If she does get disillusioned, she looks like she has plenty of potential from a cycling point of view.
Also, she's not very tall and is extremely skinny, so would certainly seem like she'd be a pretty useful climber if she put her mind to it.
You don't see the emoji? I'm poking fun at my own biases in that one.Getting an early start on the Diggins sh*t I see. Trolls gotta stay sharp.
For Cross Country not much to report - except the discussion threads about Alvar Myhlback in Swedish forums is starting to look the Remco-thread in this forum.
In Italy 19 year Maria Gismondi old is the big breakthrough start of the roller ski season.Stort update from Sweden.
Elvira Öberg smashed everyone in her lastest, looks very strong. Her sister looks fine. Persson, Magnusson, Brorsson and Johansson seems to have all sorts of problem. Hopefully atleast Magnusson will compettive when season starts. Mens side looks like normal. Samuelsson, Nelin and Ponsilouma have had an ok summer training vise. Brandt and Stefansson looks promising (like they have done for a few years now).

So distances in the world championchips in 2025 will be 10km and 20km instead of 15km and 30km. I thought they would at least keep the longer distances for the big events? This sport is getting more depressing by the day.
Fis is horrible when It comes to all of it's Sports. It’s ridiculous. Have they asked the athletes, you know, the people that are actually gonna take part in these events, what their opinions are?
FIS should worry about shallow fields, particularly in the women’s field, where last season there were many races that featured less than 50 women.
There are so many fails going on at FIS right now, from political bans, to smaller fields, to shortening the distances, to easier courses, to the monotonous calendar of races, to abandoning the skiathlon, less classic races, more mass starts…FIS just keeps destroying its own sport. We’ve discussed it here ad nauseam, i hate to keep harping on that.
Does someone of you know wehere I can find a calender/(later results) of the Russian XC skiing series? I assume they`ll organize their own series again this winter, so there should be some sort of online presence.
Thanks in adavance!

Exactly. Really the only thing to shake up things a bit might be the waxing situation. There defintiely is some potential for drama there. But we will have to wait and see if the Fluor ban will have noticebale effects. What about the 25km handicap pursuits? 😂🤣😂. What’s the point of those? To have everyone catch up to the leaders? They may as well have a mass start.
The Norwegians will dominate again, maybe not every single race, but a majority of them. At least when the Russians were there, there were competitive races where it was more or less split. Who is going to challenge the Norwegians race in and race out? FIS is also losing viewers. Their largest viewing market is out. They don’t seem to care though.
