So that's pretty much 5 guaranteed golds, odds of him getting 6?
Would you like to see it as its historic, or not because you can't stand him?

Just like with Northug before him, the fact he can win like this when given the opportunity makes it all the more frustrating that they neuter courses and push more mass starts to make it easy for him to pad his win count in far less interesting races.

Now this is a worthy gold for Klæbo in a distance race.

Valnes with a superb second place and Nyenget lost a medal to Amundsen in that crash.

Great race from Anger beating Poromaa and getting close to a medal.

Too bad Niskanen couldn't race, I think he would have at least podium.

Really good race by Cyril Fähndrich, he wasn't lying before the start.

The Czechs had great skis, they all punched over their weight, you don't expect Novak to do so well in a classic individual start.

Ticco with a respectable 12th place for Italy, Poromaa faded in the end and Anger did what he could with those conditions.

About Klaebo, he can actually win a classic individual start against the very best and the 2 guys that beat him at the Olympics aren't here (for different reasons). Still, the strongest today and therefore a well deserved gold medal.

10km interval start for Men is not a real Championship distance
As I grew up watching the men race 10 km classic in all the Championships during the 90s I don’t feel the same way. The list of 10 km Champions back then was amazing, so i don’t think it makes a huge difference who wins if the race is 10 or 15 km.

The skiers are much better trained today, much faster much better suited so quicker, shorter distances.

The interval start must go back to 15km or ideally 30km!

Yeah, probably not that much. Someone like Valnes still has respectable 15km results when that was still the usual distance. I guess it probably makes more of a difference in skating, but don't quote me on that one.

IMO the only place in Norway that should actually hold a WC is Lillehammer. There are 2 reasons for it, great tracks and the colder inland weather.

Cyril Fähndrich saying that this is the most important race for him and that he likes the snowfall.
good result in the end. As far as I can remember, the conditions were similar when the finished 3rd in Val di Fiemme?

Yeah, but Val di Fiemme with it's short, steep hills is a very specific course (+ a mass start) and hard to compare to other ones.

Klæbo won with a time of 28:16.6.

I definitely remember Dæhlie winning 10km race(s) in championships with significantly faster times that this. 27 minutes? maybe less? Although I would have liked to see a second individual start with a distance of around 20-30 km I like the 10km.

Did you see the weather today for the 11km race?

No Niskanen and no Russians. That helps.
It’s always hard to compare with people not on the start line, but I think only Bolshunov of the Russians would be good enough to potentially beat Klæbo on a course like this, when Klæbo is obviously in great form and super well prepared + the home advantage for the waxing team.

Bolshunov and Niskanen on top form and with good skiis could definitively win such a race, but they could also been slightly beaten. Impossible to say. In my eyes Niskanen has the highest level, but in a 10k Bolshunov and Klæbo are not far behind if behind at all.
