Valenti joins the list of riders we know will be in the devo team next year. No big results to speak of, however he definitely seemed to be finding his domestique feet this year at the espoir level. Being one year older obv played a part in that, but he also had health issues previously - 65 (!) sick days in 2024.

Some other snippets of info:

Maranchon says he isn't signing for a Swiss team.

Maranchon must have been a bit economical with the actualite......

.........and no sign of Valenti. That interview was conducted a couple of weeks ago, so all I can think is that in the meantime Premier Tech have picked him up for the Alpecin devo squad.

Other things to note. No place for Girmay Jr or Rotem Tene. I guess this means the latter will be in the main squad.

That’s a pretty decent set of riders considering the uncertainty around the entire setup.

Despite not being officially linked to Israel, it remains the development team for Israeli cyclists. This is similar to the UAE Team Emirates' development team for UAE riders, or Astana's team for young riders from Kazakhstan.

They've simply changed the name, but Adams remains connected to the team in some way, and to Israel.

The riders are less the issue than the potential that Adams’ involvement will bring protests.

I really doubt some Canadian guy with ties to Israel who may or may not still be involved in some capacity will attract any significant protests, and especially not of the intensity and ferocity as a team with 'Israel' written in big letters all across their jersey which could be portrayed as some kind of national team. I think race organizers are safe to have NSN in their race.

Likely not. My suggestion was that his presence and any inferred influence is more significant than that of Israeli riders, but combined with them can be a flashpoint.

I could edit that post and delete this one, and/or provide a link and sources, but there’s no need to engage the mods other than to suggest that the history of BDS may be relevant to the team’s scrutiny going forward, and leave for reactionary pile ons. And with it being a given that that races occur in public spaces.

The more interesting point, I thought anyway, from the full Marca interview was him talking about the need for points.

The most important thing is to accumulate points: we started a three-year project with WorldTour licenses in mind, and you can't afford to rest on your laurels in the first year. We want to finish the season with victories and points.

With the fairly weak and unbalanced squad they have, it's definitely a good idea to be thinking about points already. Two strong contenders in PCT with Tudor and Pinarello to move up at the end of the next cycle in addition to the other 17 WT teams, and who knows maybe Cofidis and Total can get involved in the battle too.
