Numb left foot

I currently own a pair of Sidi Genius i think 3s that I have had for a few years

When I currently ride after maybe 20 mins the left foot I start to lose feeling in and goes numb. This has happened for years and I have just cycled through it and just tried loosening the fastener (not ok if you race to have a loose shoe) .

I am not really sure what to do and if I should maybe try some form of different inner sole rather than the stock or if i should maybe look at a pair of the heat mouldable shoes so they mold to my feet.

I am hesitant with changing shoes as I had tried a pair of Shimano Road Shoes about 5 years ago and i kept getting blisters on my heals which is common for me to get which had happened with other road shoes in the past and the Sidi's seemed to not give me blisters so the reason I stuck with them.

Any advice?

Both shimano and sidi are quite narrow so be sure the shoe is wide enough and be sure the cleat is set with ball over the pedal axel slightly if you take size 10 then 10mm over the axel is good as a guide

May sound a bit silly but I've had this problem before:- one of the cleat screws poked through to the sole by a mere mm or less. Seemed to be pressing on a nerve cluster or the like. Changed to a shorter screw and alls good with the world.

Numbness is a sign that a nerve is getting pinched off somewhere. There are lots of ways for nerves to get pinched, but the most common causes are shoes that are too narrow, shoes laced too tightly, or shoes that have a concave footbed.

I relieve the symptoms of permanent nerve damage to my feet (probably caused by too many years of using toe straps and Detto Pietros) by choosing shoes with a sufficiently wide forefoot section and supportive footbeds. A good fitting shoe should also hold your foot securely and supportively without over-tightening. Also, look into footbeds by Specialized, Pearl Izumi, and E-Soles. These days I'm using heat-molded Soles in my cycling shoes and ski boots.

Go see a Podiatrist. I have Morton's Nuroma, bought custom shoes..there was improvement for several years. I changed pedals twice! Then got cortisone shots, relief for a couple more seasons...but it came back. Weight bareing x-rays showed how my metatasals were damn near touching. Doctor put a 1 1/2 inch circumference pad under me metatarsals, it felt weird...but no pain after long climbs and four hour rides.
People will mention all kinds of shoe brands..some wider, some with fancy adjusters, others will tell you to get custom shoes (did that), but it's a problem with the sturcture of your feet and a doctor can give you better information and in the long run save you money and pain.

Heat molded shoes

What I found with these products is that they make the shoe fight tight!
It wraps around your feet and doesn't give you any wiggle room. This did not help me at all.

e-soles worked for me. Had hot spots for a few years and tried everything.
