Holy mother of God. With purito in the Giro is the gt of 2011. Andrew Schleck will not win a blue ribbon.

Also Ryaguas, Soler is riding the Tour so no Giro top 5. We need him at the Tour after all. We are running out of contenders there.:D

WTF? Unzue plz explain me this! WTF??? bah... :(

Well He will try to win the PolkaDot maillot again, and go for stages as well... well I hope that He can humilliate Andrew in the high mountains but I guess that He will need more steep slopes that the Tour doesnt have...

I read a Soler interview where he stated that his goal is to wear the yellow jersey at some point and ultimately reach the podium. He's not interested in chasing the KOM points since he's already accomplished that. I hope he gives all these conservative riding teams big headaches with his aggressive tactics.
Movistar has multiple cards to play to make things interesting depending of course on who they decide to take to the Tour.

Not even a chance for podium in Le Tour... hard but true... but if those are his plans He is going to be a headache for sure... but in other hand the teams know that he is going to lose "HOURS" in the TT so maybe they are not going to be that worried for him... but who knows... hope he can wear La Maillot Jaune for a couple of days and put Colombians in the TOP again!

Sounds like the Giro is going to have around eight genuine contenders and you add that to the delicious looking parcours and you have the receipe for an amazing GT.

I feel sorry for people who only watch the tour.

Assuming he doesn't crash that is.

He'll be the nr. 1 favourite for the time trial.

I'm counting on there being some TT specialists who won't have been going to the limit on every tough stage up to then. A Larsson type.

If Menchov is on top form, even a rested Larsson isn't going to stop him from winning that time trial. Remember that Menchov was on his way to winning the final TT in the Giro 2009 as well.

Nibali will be even stronger this year, imo. Two GT podiums under his belt, more confidence, and he's actually planning on racing the Giro this year instead of being thrown in it at the last minute due to Pelli's problems. He's also reaching that "sweet spot" in terms of age when a lot of GT guys really begin to improve.

I thought his performance last year was remarkable considering he was working for Basso and was in no way trying to peak for the Giro.

I'm also not yet convinced he's bad at the steep stuff.

you don't really believe that story right?? leiqiuigas were already told about pellizotti in march and made sure nibali prepared in case pellizotti wouldn't ride. same as the contador "beach story"

soler is actually much better on the less steep gradients. 6-7% is most perfect for him. despite what many think or how soler looks, he is still 72 kg

I was thinking... if Mosquera can enter Le Tour and we have an "in form" Soler and Samu, Could we think in a "Hispanic Coalition" against Andrew? Remember CyL last year, Contador responded all the attacks in "El Morredero" but then after Last Mosquera's attack Anton attacked and Contador couldn't follow him... that could be happening in Le Tour... mmmmm anyway... I dont want to go too away from the OP...

Hey could we see a backstabbing strategy from Di Luca against Purito? cuz I can... Il Killer is too crazy =D

WHich time trial you talking about? Presumably the last one. But i think Menchov might be a favourite for the middle one as well.

At kronplatz, both 08 and 10, flat itters did slightly better than they usualy do on mountain stages. Presumably due to the skill of pacing yourself.

So on mtfs , i dont think Menchov will stay with Ricco, Anton Purito Scarponi etc though close behind.

But here he can pace himself better, and the first 5k arent much of a climb.

short descent followed by a 2% false flat for the first 5km. Only then does the 10% stuff start
giro11st16-profile.jpg

So his hollyness might be able to get some time in those first few km on the notoriously poor at tting pure climbers, and hold it on the rest.

Nibali could do well there too.

unfortunately it won't happen:( he won't have the legs to do it but i expect him to do an insane vuelta and fire up the whole thing.maybe just a stage win for the killer in il giro something like montevergine who knows...

sinkewitz will probably go for stage wins.

why would you want to see the highlights of last year when watching the stage from 2005 with the fenestre and sestriere is actually a preview of next year's most important stage?

I think part of it will have been down to the road surface at the top making it difficult to get grip out of the saddle, which allows the seated grinders to profit; it was too steep for them to really succeed but still, lightweight climbers will have been advantaged by their size for climbing but disadvantaged by their size for getting purchase and grip from the surface. Remember Cancellara once came about 5th to Montelupone (admittedly way, way shorter).

Zomegnan certainly doesnt seem like the sort to allow Contador or anyone else to ride while under such a cloud.
