Funny, the point you miss in all of your furor is that my name isn't "UCI" and I don't have the same burden of proof because I'm not a governing body. And by the same standard I use for Armstrong, I can say definitively say that you are in fact an idiot.

wow... still making friends I see:D

I'd be willing to bet you wouldn't open your mouth in a crowded room but that's just years of experience of knowing guys like you;)

Funny, you obviously don't know me. Again, an internet tough guy. Hey, how is your prediction about Lance winning the tour going? I have years of experience knowing guys who suggest they are tough guys who would shut people up in real life, they are usually the ones who are only tough on in their posts.

Lance won't win the tour on Sunday... he will win it a few months later when they announce Contador is a doper;)

I know your type, I could probably pick you out of the room

Has Lance lost the plot ?

From Indurain666's post - requires its own thread:

http://www.elpais.com/articulo/depor...lpepidep_3/Tes

When asked about his cold relationship with AC he replies:

"Si me pusiera en su lugar, en 1999 o 2000, cuando era joven y ambicioso, e Indurain hubiera venido a mi equipo, él seguiría siendo el líder del equipo, ¡es Indurain! No significa que vaya a ganar, pero es el líder porque es una leyenda.'

."..If I would put myself in his place, in 99-00, young and ambitious, and Indurain would have returned, he would have been the team leader!! Not because he could win, but because he is a legend..."

- Discuss.

Lance is finally showing his true colors. What an asshat! Back when he was king, he (usually) did the right thing and let his legs do the talking. Now that his legs can't do it, his lips have to and it's become embarrassing. Wasn't it Lance who said "no gifts"? Just STFU and prove that you deserve it. BTW, 16th in the final TT and only a few seconds better than Andy Schleck doesn't do it.

Apparently, Lance is a douchebag and very sadly he's hiding his giant eg(/p)o behind cancer, which is very seriously uncool. He clearly lost it. And I lost my last respect for him

Well that didn't take long, as I stated in this post awhile ago. http://forum.cyclingnews.com/showpost.php?p=55065&postcount=285

Here it comes.

LA. Y lo que hizo en Verbier no fue simplemente bueno, fue realmente bueno. And what he did in Verbier was not merely good, was really good. Muy, muy bueno, casi imposible. Very, very good, almost impossible.

LA. Más que yo, casi como Pantani, que subía mejor que yo y que en aquel Giro escalaba a casi 2.000 metros por hora. More than me, almost like Pantani, who climbed better than I and that Giro climbed to almost 2000 meters per hour.

Boy it didn't take long, now did it.

ASSHAT!!

(A ma connaissance, c'est un chiffre qui n'a jamais été atteint par aucun athlète, dans aucun sport.) To my knowledge, this is a figure that has never been achieved by any athlete in any sport... (Il ya quelque chose qui cloche.) There is something wrong. (Il serait intéressant de savoir ce qu'il ya sous le capot). It would be interesting to know what's under the hood.

I believe that is mistranslated somewhat and really affects the meaning of the whole statement. It says "It doesn't mean he will win, but he is the leader because he is a legend". In other words, he is not saying that Contador should scrap his own hopes and ride support for Armstrong, but that Indurain would be the team "leader" even if he (Armstrong in 99) were the GC rider. It is similar to statements Armstrong made earlier about leadership being more than winning the race and that he had experience to offer.

It's definitely still an ego trip for Armstrong to say basically, "I should be the revered team leader just because I showed up and I am a legend", but he is not saying that the team (including Alberto) should ride for his GC place and not Alberto's if Alberto is the strongest rider, which is what your translation implied and would have been a really ridiculous statement.

I'm not sure if that makes it any better. I'm in charge because I won before? It's not like Contador couldn't make the same claim right? I mean he's only one of five people to win all 3 grand tours, something Lance can't (and won't ever be able) say. Just a self-serving statement to demonstrate his importance.

I had some respect for LA after verbier when he acknowledge contador's supremacy and saying that he is putting aside his hope of winning. But know he sounds like a grumpy old man, I like people like contador who talk with ther les in the tour, unlike lance who is just trying to make contador seem like the bad guy for wanting to win. He's just mad because he feels contador has stolen his baby, and there's nothing he can do about it

Leave it to Armstrong to take the glory out of what would have been a beautiful Tour win for Alberto. It's all about Lance. Two of my greatest heros, Lance and Brett Favre have shown their true colors: It is not about the team it is me. I now wish both of them to go away and stay retired. Johan B. and LA sold, and continue to sell, Alberto out (Johan doesn't have the balls to tell Armstrong "No"). Their only concern is their own fame and fortune. Pity.

By the way - AC has an ego but what leader doesn't? Sad thing is LA's ego wouldn't let AC be the outright leader of the team as it should have been. Alberto has done everything right and attacked when needed to protect himself from from Lance. Had Lance gotten into yellow, AC would have been hounded by LA and JB to support Lance at all costs. And when Lance inevitably lost the jersey to Saxo, Alberto then would have had to come from behind as he would have lost minutes protecting Lance. Lance could not win this Tour even if Contador wasn't there!

By the way No. 2 - Chris Horner would be stupid to go with Lance/Levi/Johnan; they burned him before and they will do it again. He'd be better off with Contador or one of the other American teams.

I don't disagree that it's a self-serving egotistical statement that was totally unnecessary. I just don't believe that he is saying that Alberto should have abandoned his own hopes and ridden for Armstrong's GC place, which is what the original translation seemed to imply.

Yes, and you noticed that as close as we get to the "gran finale" the worst his words and excuses become ?. I think it is sad for him to see that maybe he will ever wear the MJ again. It's over.

This Tour has really been the worst! The Farce d' Lance!

Johan Bruyneel continues to put the brakes on Alberto Contador, for the sake of making The Old Fart (Armstrong) look good, it’s really pathetic. When you have the best rider in the Tour and you won’t let Him fly, just for the sake of your ol’ buddy ol’ pal, it makes for a really boring race.
What type of Director Sportif does not have the Balls to delegate leadership in the team? A pathetic puppet type! Bruyneel is Armstrong’s marionette, Lance has been pulling his strings since he made the announcement of His now proven fruitless comeback. Armstrong needs to come to terms about his age! The problem is that he is so arrogant that most likely he never will. I really do hope He races in the 2010 tour, I’d love to see him suffer against an unrestricted Contador. I do hope Contador finds a new team who will support Him, not hinder Him. If Contador and Also Kloden would have been on different teams than Armstrong they would’ve dropped Lance on several occasions. Kloden had to babysit Armstrong on various occasions, poor guy.
Bruyneel has lost a great deal of respect amongst real cycling fans, and Mr. Monkey Wrench Armstrong is just a buffoon, He has turned the greatest cycling race into a circus, full of media clowns. Phil Liggett to me is the biggest clown! What an a** kisser, even when it was obvious that Contandor was stronger, Liggett repeatedly claimed Armstrong superior, and insisted Lance should be the Astana leader. Versus gave no media coverage to anyone, except Mr. Monkey Wrench. Carlos Sastre was right to scold the media clowns, it’s a freakin’ joke. Lance, Lance, Lance… I almost hurled, it truly has given me a headache!

AS he told Frankie after Verbier, he has 7 at home (plus another 60+) MJ, so he can wear them around the house until his heart is content. :D
