... to do with the London track? ...

LOL at "an athlete is struggling so he is clean".

Double LOL back. 12 athlets are struggling to either break the WR of 1964 (the winner) or the winning jump of 1936 (the rest of the finalists).

About the track: Read the posts in context or just leave it...

Here. That's laughable and your pattented deflection at work once again. No Brit would ever say that to an Aussie face to face in Australia.
Actually, I do that at a special place everyday. I call it work.

For a few posts I thought you had given up your incomprehensible ranting and seemed to be posting something bordering on readable. Still old habits must die hard for you.

Just seen an interview live on Irish TV with Cian O Connor who won a bronze in show jumping today. This is the same guy who had a gold stripped off him after his horse tested positive back in Athens.

Sorry, off-topic I know, but are you a Arsenal fan?

K. Sorry. I saw your name and wondered. I keep thinking this is an American forum so was surprised to see your name but now I also see you're from Ireland. Gooners FTW :D

Did you even read my posts? The runners track is extremely fast but the jump track apparently has a different surface due to the infamous english weather so it can dry quickly but it's slower.

... and then i said like "yeah, the alleged fast tracks of the 90´s were made for both, the runners and jumpers... nowadays they only do it for the runners (that was meant to be sarcastic)". In other words, sorry i don´t believe in the BS that the organizers stopped manufacturing proper surfaces for the jumpers. In no way does that make sense, especially when i look at the results in mens javelin throw and high jump ...

I posted this also in the Ferrari but it's worthwhile here as well. Alex Schwazer admits taking EPO and tells how he bought it in Turkey. He says athletes who dope should be banned for life. Very revealling.

Very interesting read, thanks. But the perennial problem is how much is he telling the truth? He actually sounds relieved to be out of the whole thing and, on gut instinct, I am inclined to believe most of what he says.

Or how about you name the young English cricketer who died a few months back...go on give us the details. Nothing nefarious going on there either right?

Tom Maynard. Electrocuted on the railway line near Wimbledon Park tube station whilst likely under the influence of drink. Not likely he was meeting his EPO supplier there though

I tried reading further back but this ridiculous rants made my head hurt. Why on earth this his death being brought up in this thread? It's disgusting and utterly irrelevant, hang you head in shame if you did

500-1 odds but overcome by "marginal gains".

The odds were determined by Brit bookies who are usually parsimonious. The whole point of this match was there were no marginal gains, Botham came out and slaughtered the bowling attack in one of the best innings ever produces, the tail hung in with him (Willis if I recall?), then Willis destroyed the Aussie batting with 8/43, one of the best bowling performances of all time.

Nothing marginal about it. And nobody has ever said that idiotic expression, they have only ever said it was one of the most extraordinary matches ever played. These things do happen occasionally. And they are lauded as such.

The marginal gains BS is complete and utter drivel thought up by Brailesford to whitewash leaps in performance viz-a-viz Wiggo on the road, Vroome, Rogers, Porte.

This kind of partial doping admission has always bothered me. He paints his EPO use as a one time mistake brought on by the pressures of continuing to compete for another Olympics. I doubt he is being honest here and it is likely this is not the first time he used EPO. We've certainly heard similar partial admissions from cyclists in the past (Erik Zabel comes to mind).

I also have a hard time believing he was only receiving training advice from Dr. Ferrari. Dr. Ferrari may not have directly administered EPO to Schwazer, but you can bet he laid out a doping regimen for him and advised him on how to implement it.

Which is dangerous, imo. The more people saying they "did it by myself", the more likely a non-doped pro is going to think they can do it themselves too.

Ick.

I guess it's a matter of taste, but I like the guy

"It's basically propaganda to come out and say this is the most expensively-tested Games ever and 'we're doing 6,000 tests'," Conte was quoted as telling The Times newspaper.

"You have to put your hook and line in the water when the fish are biting and that was nine months ago. Is it easy to use drugs and benefit during (the) Olympics? Yes."

The British newspaper also quoted Conte as estimating that "60 per cent of athletes at the Games were on drugs".

Which is completely in line with what's being suggested in the Caribbean. These guys have free reign in the off season and the gains from that elevated period of training don't just disappear.

This Friday the IOC will officially strip Hamilton of his 2004 gold medal.
Ekimov gets the gold, Julich silver, Rogers bronze.

How long will Ekimov hold on to it? will he dare show it off at all?
Lots of good info it about to surface...

Ekimov will hold on to it forever, because the 8-year deadline for changing/correcting results from the 2004 olympics is about to expire (which is why IOC gather this Friday).

A bit silly to award the gold to someone whom may be about to be implicated as part of the biggest doping conspiracy of all time. Might as well replace Hamilton with an asterisk.
