Except for the fact that the yellow jersey changed hands, a break stayed away and Contador claimed his leadership role.

Except that your first and third point were obvious before the stage began, and the second point became clear pretty soon on the last climb as well.

Evans attacked. Twice even. Couldn't get more than a 5m gap. Schlecklet never attacked. The peloton stayed pretty much together. Practically no changes among the GC guys.

AC had an engine on his bike. He's in a different league than everyone else. Put a fork in the LA era.... it's done.

Well, Armstrong didn't attack the pack himself. Gotta say that Contador didn't look overpoweringly strong.

Good for Wiggins.

Good not Lance in yellow.

You are tough to impress. Contador looked very strong on the attack and opening up a gap. Surprised that Baby Schleck was so easily dispatched.

my imagination, or was everyone sucking Cadels wheel ....he gave the flick and no one would help even woth 3 minutes down :mad:

Saw that too. Schleck should have pulled through for him. Good to see Cadel attack as he certainly needed to. Menchov was pack fodder unfortunately.

That attack from Contador was simply nasty.

Wiggins followed the GC guys in. He's 5th i the GC. Martin did good today aswell. Kreuziger was a dissapointment.

I made time to watch this borefest? What a freaking waste. I should have just waited to read the text results. :(

Are you the only one that believes the LA era wasn't done in 2005?

I am just talking about the look on his face when he attacked. He didn't have that, "this is just a walk in the park" look that we have seen so many times by leaders. Then again, maybe there is a reason for that?

Here's my concern. Here is Stage 8 and 9's profile. With the way they rode today, there is no way anyone will gain time on GC on these days. We could get past the Pyranees, with little time change on GC from leaders! :(

tv commentators making the point that LA and Bert responded straight away to Cadels first attack, no space given. ie they did not want him to get back 1second and still see him as main threat.

Because he is considered a threat....many will disagree I am sure...

Judging by posting times, I'm guessing you and I both got about 4 hours sleep anticipating this.

I definitely skimped on the sleep to watch.

The fact that those points were obvious doesn't change the fact that they weren't "uneventful".

Schleck and Sastre were the disappointments today, for sure. At least Cadel gave it a go. As much as I don't like that guy, he did try to get some time back.
