Agree Frizzle. Does anyone really think Lance can accellerate like that? From what I saw, it looked like Lance, and the others, DID try to hold on when Alberto went, but no possible way. No one in the world could follow that.frizzlefry said:

Funny, if Lance had been the one who attacked and not AC, ppl would have been *****ing about how bad a team mate he was.The Tour always sucks! The Giro is much more exciting. Everybody is staying together on pedestrian climbs and nobody is attacking. Just stupid. Guys are 4 and 5 minutes down and they are riding on Astana's wheels. People need to launch from way out. Lance tries to resume normal, bore them into submission service, but Berto has other ideas.
If it takes Evans to liven up a mountain stage, it must be utter cr*p.
Had to laugh when even Wiggins took a pop at 'Ol Tex.
The GC already looks depressingly cut and dried, though.
What happened to Kreuziger? Couldn't even stay with Dean Martin.

Hmmm, just TIVO'd Cadels first attack,
Cadel put 6 lengths into Contador, and when Conti was closing the gap it was another 6 back to Armstrong....which he paced up rather accelerated like Conti.
LA could in no way match Conti'safterburners the first time he responded to Cadel.

Still a good move by Contador. He just showed who is the best climber, and that his accelerations are scorching.
He, contrary to the ones that needed to make up time, put time on others. Not much, but he showed them he is ready. In addition, the AST train is in good shape, so I wonder what the other DS are going to come up with to make it even remotely exciting...

I think Alberto Contador did something that wasn't planned listening to Lance talk after the stage. However, like he said he raced a team game and he didn't ride after Contador. I think the plan was to get Lance the yellow today.
Cadel is not going to podium top five maybe. Andy Schleck couldn't catch alberto when he tried and Team astana, Lance, kloden, and Levi caught Andy quickly. I has the making of a Astana Podium in paris.

Lance said yesterday that if Alberto goes and none of the other teams can follow he will sit in and do the team mate thing. He did exactly that.....for that I respect him.
I don't think Lance can accelerate like Alberto can....I really don't think he could back in the day. Alberto has acceleration that is amaxing. I think Lance could have pulled the time into less than 20 seconds but he did the right thing by making the others do the work.
Perfect work for Astana....Contador gains more time, Armstrong and Leipheimer don't lose any time on the other contendors......

I was extremely disappointed in Kruezinger, really thought he could be a dark horse for a podium spot.
That acceleraation by Contador was absolutely sick!!! He was to just free wheel around that first bend he was going so fast. This Tour looks like a 2 speed tour. Contador at one speed, everyone at another.

If Armstrong wanted the advantage, he should have jumped... he didn't... Alberto took the chance, got a gap, and NO WAY should Lance have chased him down.
Lance did the respectable thing...

I think it's just as easy to read that the other way around.
In a sport where grand champions used to be burnt out by their early thirties, we now have a bloke, rapidly closing in on his 40's, trying to follow Contador's acceleration......
Maybe a tad too much Hollywood in this script.
