Haussler and Voigt setting up for their GC riders....but really I dunno why they are chasing so hard.

Me neither. Strange.

Some strong riders in that break but not a single threat on GC is there?

Armstrong's attacked... Funny ******s by Bruyneel

Nah, the break wasn't getting caught and Astana wasn't getting help. So Armstrong bridges up to the break. That way, everyone panics and the break is brought back in seconds. Just that.

Hopefully the Schlecks, Sastre etc will actally race....

You'd hope that something would happen, but any attack by anyone would have to be viewed as desperate because the organizers have castrated the stage. I was hoping someone would blow up part of the descent of the Tourmalet and they would have to short the stage. THis is just a STUPID stage.

I agree, what a pointless stage to have... It won't be beneficial for anyone:confused:

Astana control

Its the Astana hold of the TdF that reminds me of the bad old days of US Postal/ Discovery. It makes the racing less interesting and too controlled.

They probably will, but not too seriously because they will get caught. The only logical tactic that would see a contender gain time by the end of the stage would be to put some serious pain down on the Aspen, whittle down the front to 10-20 riders, hammer the descent and then someone go from fairly low on the Tourmalet and gain a lot of time. Problem is that would eliminate 3/4ths of the peloton on time and nobody is willing to hammer off their riders that early.

It's a shame that Sastre left Saxo in my opinion. The two Schlecks plus Sastre on the same team would be difficult for even Astana to keep an eye on. Although, I s'pose they would still get their butts kicked in the TTT and ITT's..........and Astana would still hold all the trump cards.

They are an astonishingly strong Grand Tour team, no doubt about it.

It looked like the tempo was pretty high riding to the Col d'Aspin. One can only hope that someone takes a flyer early.

Off to grind some beans....
