Irrespective of contracts for life I’m not sure Jumbo Visma is the best team for Wout now. He needs a team built to target his own goals, and that shouldn’t be pacing Vingo up HC climbs. Increasingly think Soudal could be a better place for him at this stage of his career.

Real pity Wout hasn't been able to compete with Pedersen in the first part of this Giro. The narrative went down the toilet on stage 2 and we are left with tons of GC wannabies looking at each together until probably deep into the 3rd week. Maybe the Siena stage will result in a shake up and shed some GC guys, but which team will lead the show? Would like to see a collaboration of Lidl and Visma with Pidcock throwing in some weight in driving a serious effort from a distance and have the chips fall.

Very happy he finally got his win, and found his legs back. I can see him win a couple more stages now.

About the wheel sucking, he should’ve proposed to Del Toro to ride with him if he gets the win, Del Toro gets pink jersey. If Del Toro says no, then don’t take a turn anymore. Nothing to feel bad about.

He shouldn't even offer that as it would compromise the GC of Yates. And Del Toro was going to keep the tempo up anyway.

Hate to be in the peanut gallery this much but his wife's comments make me worry for the rest of his career.
Saying stuff like she thought it wasn't going to happen after it had been such a difficult year.
That she asked herself whether it was all still worth it and that WvA is now a father and such a good one at that.

This isn't an attack on her person but I doubt this is the mindset that'll get WvA towards single-minded cycling excellence. Too much focus on the life beyond it.
