Olympic RR Test Event this weekend ...

BBC News 24.

Oh dear. Now if the Police and goverment didnt listen too much about "hard policiing" when they were policing the student n0bs they wouldnt be in this position now.

Get the water cannons and rubber bullets on the low life scum!

This makes me chuckle at the Yorkshire "bid" for the Tour 2016. NO Chance! We cant even get our own cycle events sorted out!

The matches cancelled are for today and tomorrow, not the weekend.

i know, four matches already cancelled, and they are trying to get matches called off at the weekend. Just what I said but thank you for re-iterating ;)

Well, on one hand I guess London's police officers have better things to do with their time right now than standing around on some country roads for a bunch of cyclists, on the other hand, it would be embarrassing for London 2012 to be unable to secure such a test event for the Olympics.

I'm sure they'd rather do traffic duties around a bike race right now than deal with bunches of cnuts going mental.

I'm surprised that there's been no word from the IOC yet, but I'm sure they're taking interest.

then again, this could solve the ticketing issues for locals if all the visitors turn around and say 'stuff going there for the olympics'...

The posh Surrey locals throwing glass and tacks onto the coarse in the early part might be a bigger problem. It will be war zone later on in London but hopefully the race can go ahead if it can finish by early evening.

I was thinking of going up to watch but put that on hold untill I know what the hell is happening.

Seems like at the moment its going ahead, tsf have just had their media pass through, so no plans at the moment for it to be called off.

That's the solution we've needed. The people involved in the riots could indeed be described as "the coarse", so get the Pishington-Smythes to throw glass and tacks onto them.

(yeah, I know you meant "course")

I wish Firefox has a grammar checker too.

I do not see what the problem is. They only need to ride the last five kilometers. If need be, they can cut that down to the last one kilometer. That is the only thing that will be important in this farce of an Olympic race.

Being able to have a sporting event WHILE keeping the city safe would seem to be an important ambition for the Olympics. If they can't do both then obviously safety comes first.

Anyone know if its being televised ?

Not live (you never let the public see the dress rehearsal).

Cycling Weekly said they'd heard that the BBC were showing highlights the following week.
