Yeah they're riding generally well today although I'm not sure how useful it is for Stannard to drag Van Avermaet to the line.

It would amuse me a little* if he did just enough to keep GVA clear from the chasing three, while EBH wins their sprint.

* ok, more than a little

If Stannard and GVA contest in a sprint? Is GVA more likely to win?

A potato is likely to win a sprint against Stannard
Worse, Ivan Basso is likely to win a sprint against Stannard

GVA's got the better sprint, Stannards more a attacking/hardman that pushes a hard pace on the front.

Who'd a thunk BMC and Sky out race OPQS in a classic.

Hopefully a sign of things to come for the next few weeks
When was the last time QS won here?....

Unless Stannard can ride away, his best hope is to exhaust Terpstra and Vanmarcke for EBH to finish more strongly.

And I don't see anything to suggest that Stannard can ride away.

EBH beats Avermaet 7/10 times in a sprint. Stannad 0/10. Stop pulling if u want sky to win Stannard

It allows EBH to save energy in the chase though the longer Stannard stays in front.

Other teams forced them to chase the break from the beginning. Or something. Definitely hubris.

It also gives Van Avermaet a bigger chance. It's a difficult balance I think and Stannard/EBH are doing a good job.

Sky have an awesome chance to win this one. Stannard can set up for Eddy Boss in case it comes down to a sprint.

Vanmarcke may not wait that long though.
