Doesn't everyone think that Andy would be more of an anchor in his current form? Ultimately he wouldwant to have some hope of success in this scenario and paired up with Contador it is inevitable that their gap in form will result on Andy getting dropped. Also any action by Contador is going to be marked very closely. If Andy has any form left (and most importantly, motivation) after his disappointing effort on Ventoux, he's be better served getting in a break with riders that are of similar non-threatening level as himself.

Hopefully Ventoux was just a bad day for him, and his form is actually better then it seems.

he will attack on the lower slopes of col de manse.

Not tomorrow though, thursday:p

Seriously though I'm not sure it will happen. He doesn't have the surprise element, there is no guarantee sky will perform that badly, even if he did attack froome can close him down and also if it did happen chances are other teams will drag froome along anyway.

Frankly, at this point, an attack by Contador would be like the Muppets storming Mordor. But who knows.

Yeah, but to try and fail will win more fans that not trying at all.

I was going to attempt to make a funny post about Oleg Tinkov buying a weather machine to help Contador win Vino-style, but that simply can't compete with an image of Muppets as the LotR fellowship.

Seriously, though, I wouldn't be surprised to see him go for broke tomorrow. It would be pretty similar to the Fuente De attack - just after a rest day, rather easy looking stage, catch some guys off guard...

Don't get me wrong, I want to see him try.

He'll try, he hasn't even attacked once in this tour and he can't wait on the last mountain for it since froome will rip him apart.

I hope you're right but I suspect Andy's reached the limits of his current form. He may have to be content with his showing in the Alps and use that as motivation for the rest of the season instead of seeing Ventoux as disappointment.

He might need to call in a few favours he's earned over the years, maybe even help Radioshack on 18 to get their support on 19... if he can do that without killing his own guys. I dunno. He can't leave it until the last mtn stage and it wouldn't be like him to just settle for 2nd or lower.

He's got to do it sooner than later but the Alpe stage would gain him the most fame or stage with the most worth in history of the Tour.

In reality its going to be more of a do and die. :(

Stage 19 is perfect. Isolate Froome early on like Stage 10 and this time actually attack him. If Froome keeps chasing after every Quintana attack for instance he will be too tired to respond to a well timed Contador attack. As long as they dont do a repeat of Stage 10...

Stage 19 is too late to win the race. Every chance (even today) has to be taken, Contador can only gain time in this stage and if it doesn't work, he can still (comfortably) finish in the Maillot Jaune group. Stage 19 can only be good if today or Alpe d'Huez already deliver some time gain...

I voted stage 21 :p

I think he'll attack on stage 16 but not suicide, 4 minutes behind, stage 17 5 minutes behind, stage 18 big attack, no yellow, now just 4 minutes behind, stage 19 big attack, no yellow, 1'30 behind (Rain! Thunder!) and suicide on stage 20  yellow

In my dreams ofc :) I think stage 19 is most likely
