Open letter to Dave Brailsford

Dear Mr Brailsford

I am a huge cycling fan, have been since I was ten years old, and I am now on the far side of 40. I love cycling, I watch every race on TV, I read every article I possibly can, every tweet, every forum posting.

Even though there are huge rumours and accusations that the peloton is still doping, I still watch, I still support. I love it so much.

I have been reading the calls for SKY's V02-max data from journalists and twitter 'trolls' this week and frankly I'm disgusted. You are absolutely right to ignore these requests. The season is just underway and the last thing you should be doing is badgering riders to do tests just to silence these misfits. Even the fact your riders are aware twitter and the cycling forums are alive with SKy doping rumours, is enough to put them under enough stress to adversely affect their performances.

So what can you do? Well I have an idea to silence all the SKY doubters, and you won’t have to even involve any of your riders. You will be able to do it all yourself.

You, Sir Dave, should take a simple lie detector test. Three or four basic questions about SKY and doping, set up by an independent source. We see it every day on Jeremy Kyle. A few questions, and within thirty minutes of your day, boom, SKY doubters silenced forever.

Please consider this Mr Brailsford, please do this for the believers in the cycling community.

Many Thanks

Glenmalure

Can I just ask, why did you address the letter to 'Mr Brailsford' but later on in the letter address him as 'Sir Dave' then addressed him as 'Mr Brailsford'?

When (you) the Brits address a Sir, do you only use that term if saying their first name and call them 'Mr' if using their surname?

Why don't you make a thread for each WT team manager? i'm curious about a few teams.

I sent an open letter to Riis, asking him to put Contador on the good juice. Looks like he listened!

Hmm ... have you considered that this letter may well be a p1ss take?

It would be far better to write an open letter to the UCI and ask that all test data for all riders is published / available to the public.

Of course.

But I don't get the 'Sir' thing and I'm sure a Brit will post in this thread, might see my question and explain the whole 'Sir' thing. I'm aware that only Brits have to call him a 'Sir', I can call him Dave without getting thrown into the tower of London.

English 101. 10/10 for you and stand in the corner for the letter writer (who actually nearly bags a full set with Dave, Mr Brailsford, Sir Dave but misses out Sir David).

Correct rendition would be 'Sir David' or Sir Dave if he is a mate of yours.

You realize of course if he doesn't take your suggestion to take a lie detector test then we'll have to assume Sky are doping...

Or should he ignore the request be, in your own words, "absolutely right to ignore these requests. The season is just underway and the last thing you should be doing is taking lie detector tests just to silence these misfits."

I've always seen Digger as a Harry Markopolos type.

Poor old Harry got a beating for his views and analysis. And when he was proven correct he just kept at it. Didn't need the bright lights.

Harry applied Madoff's winning logic with the data and said it couldn't be done. He then reversed engineered it. Couldn't be done.

Same logic. Froome is an unbalanced mathematical equation. No wonder they won't give his vo2 figure up - it would expose the fraudulent equation and allow Froome performances to be hacked and undone.

Aside from the fact polygraph results are highly suspect to the point that the courts do not permit the introduction of the results because the science is so suspect, a polygraph test is not what is needed here. What is needed is Sky/Brailsford's commitment to transparency about the test results of its riders in the public domain.

I have been advocating for some time for the automatic and mandatory public release of all in and out of competition test results for all riders in the peloton. Henao and JTL are classic examples of why this should be done by every World pro team.

Why would anyone watch a pro cycling race and love it when we simply don't know since say 1985 that the race is fair? There is not a single GT or Classic that is not questioned to death in the Clinic as to its legitimacy.

Mr. Brailsford,

When will the clean performances that surpassed the doping performances of the past be surpassed? This year? Man I hope so because we need more evidence of clean cycling.

Lovingly,

TFF
