Order of comments on articles

When I want read comments on articles or live updates to something I want to read down the page from the oldest to the newest. I see absolutely no point in have the latest comment or update at the top of the page. By reading the latest comments first you are taking them out of the context of the comments that went before. The flow of thought in the comments is lost, you read replies to comments you have not read. It makes absolutely no sense to me.

Yet when I go to sites some do not even offer this most sensible of ways of reading comments. Youtube doesn't, BBC sport doesn't. I just do not know why they bother having comments if you cannot read them properly.

I feel like screaming.

Most forums do it this way. Youtube and BBC are comments on articles/videos. Also, the opening thread which introduces the topic, would be last which is rather backwards.

This is the right way to do it. Put the first comment/update at the top of the page and then put the rest below it. Just like this forum does. Putting them the other way round forces you read up the page. English meant to be read left to right from the top to the bottom of the page.
I just do not understand why you would want it in such a back to front confusing non normal English language way. It is just wrong to me.
Do people like reading up the page?
Do people like reading replies before they read what is being replied to?
I am totally mystified. If someone has some explanation for this strange way of putting this please give it to me. I will try and understand.
