In the Sydney Morning Herald this morning Chris White was quoted as saying that with the riders he has already signed or offered a contract to Fly V would be sitting in 7th place on the UCI points table with 650 points. It is generally known that a team needs 450 points to match the sporting criteria of the UCI. I wonder how many of these points he has actually signed and how many are still just offers.

McEwen plus Rogers, Goss, Horner and Henderson would give them 641 points.

I know that most off these guys are contracted but I think to got that many points these are the guys who they might be able to get:
Horner: 216
Rogers: 113
Barjovic: 174
Henderson: 103
D. Martin: 106
Porte: 133
Roberts: 50

I can only really see Roberts going from these few so unless there are some big surprises I dont think it looks good

TSF, aka, Dimspace, is actually really playing the dimwit card here.

Sky, is owned by News Corp. Wait, aren't they originally an Aussie company? Yes...they are, but switched share markets. Why you ask? Because FOX is their biggest arm and it is US based. Murdoch owns half the British tabloids to boot as well. Sure he has dual citizenship and his son Llachlan has an American accent and runs stuff in my neck of the woods. But the base for the empire started Down Under. Without us TSF, you won't have your sub par underperforming wonder team that has delivered less than even the cynical on this thread thought they could. So laugh it up dude...your British team was created via Aussie's backing their British corporate arm to help sell pay tv set top boxes. Good old Aussie entrepreneurship and some sad Poms try and take credit. Call it as it really is boys and don't forget the convenient historical facts that exist.

I'll even hand out bonus points if someone can name the lone paper Murdoch owned and used to expand his fledgling empire 40 years ago. If you're stuck it was in his home states capital. There are only 8 states/territories so you've got a good chance to guess it. It might even be a paper for a city associated with cycling.

GAME, SET MATCH, Galic Ho!

Porte definitely isn't going to Fly V.

My mail on Rogers is he's going to Sky.

Funny how Brailsford has changed his opinion of riders that a season ago wouldn't have considered.

Not long until the unspoken word will be 'do what you need to boys, just don't get caught.'

Murdoch's first paper was The News, the afternoon paper of Adelaide.

Bingo. Someone here knows where the dynasty started. Daddy handed Rupert the paper after he graduated from college/uni. Not a bad expansion for a guy who saluted a statue of Marx whilst a drunk university freshman and was a sworn socialist. Capitalism does pay dividends.

Don't they own over 40% of it and are currently looking at buying the rest?

The big boys are always those who control the majority share. British and Australian company law are very similar. Own 5% of shares and you can call for an emergency meeting of all share holders. You have the right to ask for a revote on the Board of Directors. Murdoch doesn't need 50% of the shares, but it is all rudimentary if a serious vote is ever needed.

If News Corp wishes to impose itself as a parent company, it has the means with which to do so.

I think the Tour de France is a little ambitious for now, as there are quite a few teams that would be ahead in the pecking order, and the same for the Giro and the Vuelta. I see them in many ways not too dissimilar to BMC when they started to move up the ranks by getting invites to some Pro Tour stage races, and last year, got a wildcard to Paris - Roubaix.
