Yes, I think it will, at least partially, come together again, too many missed out. Still, there is still plenty of road for further splits to happen.

This crosswind section resembles the piece from last weekend's Omloop.
Though this split's sticking longer, and the complexion of racing is different.

These is a tough battle through rain and wind in echelons. Quintana's move to Arkea has inspired him for a great start of the season. Now at least he's the undisputed leader. He has proven before that he can race on the flat. Q, Alaf and Scchachmann can take an early lead on the others.

Since that Tour stage in 2015, where he lost a lot of time, he has transformed himself into one of the best crosswind riders in the peloton.

Since that Tour stage in 2015, where he lost a lot of time, he has transformed himself into one of the best crosswind riders in the peloton.

For a tiny Colombian weighing around 55 kg, that is quite remarkable IMO.

If I remember correctly, his deficit on Froome in the end was pretty much what he lost during that stage to Zeeland. Could be that it upset him so much and he felt he lost the GC there genuinely, that he decided to learn riding the crosswinds properly.

You are probably right on his motivation.

It's just impressive that he is able to actually do it, given his riding background and physique.
