Brutal stuff from Pogačar and Gaudu today, almost all French riders looked great. It seems Pogačar won't need the bonus seconds after all.

Vingegård showed he is human just like last spring but he will be a different kind of animal in the Tour.

If he wouldn't have smiled at last years Tour stage where he cracked as well, it would have feeled like he was pleasently surprised that Vingegaard's attack didn't hurt at all.

He actually said after the race that he expected stronger Vinge and did not expect to gain so much.

Biggest disappointment is Simon Philip Yates.

I think we all expect pogacar to beat vinge in spring at cold weather
I think there was a question whether Vingo's results at Gran Camino meant something when it comes to the bigger spring races. It seems not... or at least he's nowhere near Pogi, which isn't surprising as the guy is in top shape all year round.

I criticized J-V in the past days for not going to the intermediate sprints, but after all they were right, they will be worthless in the end.

They also got some critique for making sure Van Hooydonck was in the front group yesterday, rather than just launching Vingegaard. Guess that won't matter much either.

Oh, well... Danish party's over. It was fun while it lasted.

He cracked while trying to follow an attack that none of the others would have been able to come as close to. Without Pogačar here, he would probably have won the stage.
Yeah... or maybe he would have finished 5th instead of 6th. In any case it is not a good look for Vinge and even a worse one for JV. To deny a leadership role to the guy who has won so much for you based on a race which was very tactical is really a bad management move.
But nothing is set is stone, there might be a different rider with the number 1 at the TdF.

Well, I think there are two things that explain the big time between Vingegaard and Pogacar today.
1.) He is obviously not in the the shape as Pogacar right now
2.) He wasted a lot of energy in his first attack and also in a second big effort when he tried to bridge to Pogacar after his attack. He cracked after the second big effort and nearly lost all the time in the last km.

So it´s a combination of managing his efforts today and his form...

I see no reason why they'd straight up deny Vingegaard a spot, and as the defending champion, he'll be wearing number 1, even if Roglic rides, and turns out to be the best man for the team.

Cort and Pedersen had fun at the finish though.

Only wins count! Not... 68ths.
At least Gregaard still got KoM, for now.

Great race today!, Pogacar is espectacular and I like the way he go to the races...Quite similar to Merkxs mentality. He fight for bonus, fight for the stage even with help...It must be that way.

But today Vingegard made a big mistake.

At climbs of less than 10 Km Pogarcar is better than Vingegard.
He has no rival today. The best the danish can do is to follow him as he did at Belle Filles.

But on longer climbs Vingegard is better. He did a mistake attacking first. It is noce to play with the element of surprise, but those explosive attack on short climb are good for Pogacar..and later Vingegard was even riding with Poggi at his wheel.... and later he wanst enoghh attentive to catch his wheel on the Pogacar attack....he was good at the counter attack, but couldn recah that distance and later fade...

He had today just to be at the defensive and to be happy of he loss just 10 seconds. and the day of the long climg to try to put back those seconds on him again..That was the way to woin this Paris Niza.

Maybe he prefer to make experiment and take conclusions as le Tour is more important to Paris Nice, but if his main goal was victory it was an stupid way to race...As spectator, I aplaude it a little, but I prefer intelligence and everyone playing his best option...

We can all agree Vingo didn't manage his efforts well in this climb, but it looked like he didn't have that much to give in the first place.
