In the meteo website I use I see gusts of 200kph forecasted for this afternoon.

Tourrettes-sur-Loup is on the frontier of the region where the wind speed starts to decay, but even there is forecasted to close to 100kph.
apparently there's better shelter in that part, so I guess it should be okay. Sounds like an understandable decision today. 100+ kph wind gusts on open roads are obviously dangerous

Since we've seen races - as recently as Drome - where riders literally got blown off the road, I'm going to assume there's probably a reason for this rare case of wind-related change.

The fact that the stage today is only 80 km makes it unlikely for the break to make it all the way to the finish, IMO. The stage will be easier to control now so we might see the likes of Trek, EF, and maybe even UAE control the break. I think Pedersen, Cort, Matthews, and Pogacar will be the favorites for today.

Super frustrating, but then again, no-one wants crashes and injured riders due to the wind.

He's good in positioning, but he was also one of the fastest sprinters last year. He beat almost everyone on pure speed. This year so far he seemed to lack a bit in that regard.
I followed him closely last year and he was super fast coming from behind when he has the draft of others and in headwind sprints coming also for behind, mostly like every other top sprinter to be honest. When he was launching himself the sprint from 200m he was very similar to this year Paris Nice level, wich is not that bad by the the way.
Just people understimate the energy required to be always in top 5 position during the last kms, for example is always the case of fans overreacting with riders like Ewan who is "the fastest coming from behind in the draft" but not the same sprinter when he has to launch from first position. Im started to think that De Lie is maybe a bit overrated in pure speed (in mass sprints) because he always come from behind due to his poor positioning.
The only riders that are sometimes freakingly fast without the help of some draft are: Groenewegen, Merlier, last year Jakobsen and Philipsen since last season. Kooij is right behind in the group B in terms of speed but maybe is already the best in positioning.

Yeah. It seems Kooij isn't gonna be the fastest guy in the world, also in part because he's actually very low BMI for a sprinter and he might lean a bit more to the classics a bit as well.

More of a Freire prototype in an era where Sanremo isn't a sprint anymore

Gaudu has a good oportunity to even win GC, or at least to take the yellow before Nice.

He need the help of Vingegard. It supossed Vingegar will go for the stage and even try to get the overall in the long climb tomorrow.

In the case, difficul, but possible, Vingegard drop Pogacar. Gaudu just have to stay at Pogacar wheel an attack at the end. For that Gaudu must be stropnger than Pogacar in that climb, Not easy, but acording what we see two days ago, possible.

He must be very strong, similar than Poggy for a climb like that, and Vingegar attack Pogacar till the limit quite far from the finish, not just 2 km at the end. And this second one is likely

They are talking about gusts of up to 100km/h

There is only one solution

NK TEGENWINDFIETSEN

O wait it's probably not enough wind for that.
I dont know how open is the stage, but in that condicions is not possible to ride a bike. Once a gust of almost 80, was close to put me on the ground. and I had to stop.
The stage is very likely to be cut or suspended. Much more justificated than the snow in Galicia, who was shamefull, just becouse there werent snow on that descent.
